Over the years I've done a lot of damage by raising the front of the car from the front crossmember and now need to repair it since the body is off. I was thinking of cutting out a section of 8"X14" and tig welding a new section in.
Questions;
Would you tig weld in one complete section or two...
A friend is asking for help since they're stranded and need to get there Vette up and running. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Battery was starting to go dead.
Alternator was changed by owner which is not very diy'er.
Battery was disconnected when swap was done...
I did one on a fellow members 71 couple years ago and it didn't have a/c. I think the reason a/c cars are much more difficult is due to the a/c drier and lines that are in the way and not easily removable. Below are a couple links that may help and I hope they work...
Anyone ever bought from this ebay'er?

Looking for suggestions on a long term repair. Keep in mind the car is not transportable and I can't remove the whole mount and tig weld a new one in due to space restraints. How about if I get a 10 gauge flat bar and mold it to contour to the existing mount, predrill the top opening and tig...
This is the reply I got from Vansteel and I appreciate there quick reply.
"You can use the SS PB shoes. However, the SS shoes are arched wrong and you will have to sand off a good amount of the shoe to clear the rotor. What we have found is you will need to sand down the shoe lining only if...
When I check the listings, up to 74' they're silver, 74' and up are gold plated.
Looks like that maybe my next step, bottom line is I'm going to use them anyway since I've already purchased them, I just don' know if Vansteel can tell me if there will be any issues in the future.
Now I'm a bit confused, is the problem that the S/S e-brake linning tend to "bend/distort more under tension" if so then why does Vansteel sell them? Then in the same order sell gold cad plate backings. Or is the issue that you shouldn't use S/S e-brake linings against the gold cad plate...
I don't have an account with them and didn't want to go through the registration process just to find out how much shipping charges would be. Anyone know if there is free shipping over a certain amount or whether there shipping costs are reasonable. I understand that it will depend on the weight...
I was thinking more on the lines of stainless resting on gold cad plated metal. If it is infact the difference in shape of the stainless e-brake linings then is this something I can grind down to get a better fit? The ones that I'm replacing aren't original therefore I have no reference to...
On the gold cad plated backing for the rear e-brake there is a sticker from Vansteel requesting not to use Stainless Steel e-brake linnings against this surface. I've already purchase the material and don't want to return it therefore I ask, are they compatible and will it be an issue if I...
I was wondering what is the hardest part of doing the "trailing arm rebuild"? I ask since I'm located in Canada and if I run into problems there isn't a member close by that can drop by to lend a hand and I want to be sure I'm comfortable in doing them.
Thanks
I've removed and was able to seperate the rear aftermarket 9 leaf metal spring and wire wheel every single leaf. Before I reassemble what would you suggest I should put between the springs after I POR 15 both sides?
The spring has only around 2000 miles on her but the car has been stored on...
