I am getting really close to starting my baby. I want to say thanks to all my friends on this site for all your help. I know some of my questions probably seem silly but I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!
I need to get some clips and a couple different parts to clean up my hoses too. I'll end up getting steel braided hoses soon. more progress picts to come...

For what its worth - I've really liked working with an outfit online "ANFITTINGSDIRECT.COM" good prices and quick delivery. Doing my entire fuel, brake and radiators with their gear. They also have a sister site Silicone hoses or something if you want that route. Stainless steel radiator hose for me! Not associated - just a happy customer passing along my experience. Cheers - Jim

Gene - you know he'd love that car - a tan/brownsoft top would be the "bee's knees" with your colors - and great in Cali too!

No $$ or that now.....but did note that SR's vette has blacked out chrome bumpers, I missed that, and my car used to be burgundy too boot, and I have been seriously considering for long time now, to get the front/rear bumpers powder coated gloss black, just like the grill and other trim items.....He beat me to it......:surrender:
got an outfit next door that does fine work.....did the mirrors, rocker panels, grill, tail lights, gas door, so far, and that was years ago.....

Yea the look is crazy cool. I love it and I cant wait to get the black rag top too. Im almost ready to drive the beast but I have to hook up one last line to the hydraulic clutch, add tranny fluid, then hopefully be driving. I am hoping I hooked up everything ok. I never did mods before. :0)

I ended up buying the kit from American Powertrain. I just installed it yesterday except one main line that I forgot to install when I put the transmission and engine in. :O(
I have to go buy a special wrench now to tighten it up through the hole where the clutch arm goes through. It's an easy install as long as you pay attention to what your doing and I got the cool billet reservoir. Ill post pictures hopefully tonight.
I could have bought other parts to make this cheaper but I wasn't too confident in myself doing it. I paid a lot more for my mind's sake. :O)

I got the hydraulics hooked up finally. I had to be very patient getting the other line in the small window to work with. :O) thanks to a special tool and small turns its done. I bleed the line and the throw-out bearing moves about 1". I hope that's good unless I need to do more bleeding. Do you guys know if that sounds good?

Ok, I got my car running enough to test out the hydraulic clutch and its nice... smooth. I am sure you can buy parts to keep the cost down but this is pretty much a bolt on without much work. I am soooooo happy with it. Ax far as the car, I ran out of gas and couldnt drive it back in the garage. Ha ha ha... I still need to put a timimg light on it and fine tune the carbs before I take it out on the street.

I got a little time to work on my Vette this week and I started putting together the Rack and Pinion MOD you guys have on Vette Mods. I never did anything like this before but I think it will turn out great. I used cardboard and Duct tape to make my templates. Then I had a machine shop cut out the metal and weld them together. I have it all on the car hanging in place by zip ties to make sure it will work. Now I am trying to find one of my friends or a friend of a friend to weld them to my car. :O)

excellent work, be sure to use some painted on witness marks on the bolts to the heim joints. the bolts holding these on my steeroids system loosened up on me....

I installed the rack and pinion that you have here on the site. AWESOME BTW! I wanted to redesign this bracket to look better so do you think this will work? The original bar is 1.5" x 1.5" at 1/8" thick. The new is 1x1x1/8 but the difference will be the ends as shown in the picture. I feel it will work better with less issues... I never done anything like this so your comments are really important to me.

I'd opt to add a piece of metal below the folded sections (and top maybe too) to give you a box section - with those "fingers" the folds -might "fold" under load even though the total section width is 1/4 inch at the ends. Just me.

With Covid19, I have to work remotely working way too many claims. This is not allowing time to work on my project. With that said, I have been doing little things here and there.

The set up jig is crude but it worked. Thanks for BB Sharks tips, I needed the make sure the angles stayed the same with the new column when I tacked them down. Worked like a charm. New column, steering wheel, and a push button start to top it off.

I finally got my Flaming River Rack N Pinion completely installed with my power steering. WOW, so much better than what I was expecting. I just backed it up into my driveway and back in the garage but it was really easy. I have to make a couple adjustments to the alignment of the power steering pully and I need a 90 degree fitting to smooth out the line.

A pick of the Installed Rack would be appreciated. I have the Steeroids and am not happy with the cobbled together mount I'm working.
You may have a better idea? Guessing it is set up for rear-steer?

I'll get into it tonight for pictures. Here is the manual though. It's a pretty easy install but $$$. It's a solid unit and worth the money, at least to me. I believe they will send you the power steering pump line kit if you buy the RnP. I installed a specific type II power steering pump with a reservoir but I ordered a couple of 90 degree fittings to route the lines better and you need a specific flow reducer that works with the RnP. I'll get the part numbers as soon as I get it completed.
