I am working on the doors for my car. Next step is a trial fit for the mirror and correct some issues with the fit of the mirror bracket to the door. So, I remembered something, the mirror on a 1968 was located about 5 inches forward of the position of later cars. I don't recall the reason for the change but I think it had something to do with visibility? But I think further forward would be better and I like the look of the mirror forward.
Anyone know why they did this?
I think I see the issue. If you have a passenger side mirror (optional) you cant see it behind the windshield trim. This car actually has a (invisible) right side mirror
