Misc Vintage Racing Clips

I imagine the “new guy” had to work the starter on these. Probably a lot of singed eyebrows when they raced these.

The YT video of the Gurney Indy car ended with a link to a video about the 3.0liter V12 F1 car. Really good "how it was made" info.

Gurney had some winning history. Nice overview.

This vid below is way too long, but I listened to it while doing some work. Still have a bit to go, but some of the details are pretty interesting.

Nice video. My dad was one of those people that thought the invasion of rear engine cars in Indy was going to ruin racing forever. He took me to a race when I was a kid in ~1965. His favorite driver was Jim Hurtibise who spent years racing an old front engined Offy, until he couldn't qualify (to slow). Hurtibise sprint car driver that was a local fan favorite.

I think he kept trying until the early 70's. My dad told me that Hurtibise said "I'm going to win Indy or die trying".

Yeah, there were local legends in Indy. The newspaper covered the track for 4 or 5 weeks before the race. Lived close by from 87-96.

Hey, does anyone have good photos of a c2 or c3 race car showing how the dzus fasteners are done for the front and rear clip? With the body mounted and removed would be good. If I find any in the coming months, will post here.

Started moving my frame around in order to clean and re-paint the house garage. Yeah, I know it’s purple 🤮, but the whole car was 1500$ and sold $3000 worth of parts from it. So this was free ( plus a bunch of other stuff I kept).

That is the first post on CF and a few more after - might be useful.
"how did they dzus this..."
But hey - whoever thinks CF has any good... never mind. I'll be looking there too for ideas for body mounts like that.

Cheers - Jim
