I actually like the car too. I don't care for the rear view mirrors or the bug deflector but overall I like the car. The wheels look like oversized Minilites - sweet... bet they're not cheap.

TT....you're losing it. If you like that car, I suggest you go to the JC Whitney website and get a subscription to their parts catalog. Pretty much everything you see on there is available from Whit.

My L88 hood came from good old JCWhitney :yahoo:

You know with all this talk about posers and no-go showboats,i'm sriously thinking about leaving that 30yo paint on my car and not repaint this winter.

But can i leave all my stickers on the hood,they hide all the cracks,and scratches :bump:

:lol::lol:

I kinda like the car too and I actually dont care much where the parts were bought as long as the part does the job.
As far as cars disguised as racer (is that what you call posers?)
Why not? theres a tons of RC Cobra out there and probably more Z28 than GM actually built.
The guy wants to make his car look like a racer, fine with me.
By the way, I used to put stickers on my cars to hide the scratches,
My opinion.

Did you buy a clear bug deflector too?

OK...we need pics of all those poser tool boxes:lol:

Forty years ago I found this brand new Craftsman tool box in perfect condition on the side of the road (empty of course) I liked the way the guy had his name lettered on the lid so I changed my name, filled the box and throughout the years stickered up the inside of the lid.....I also own a bridge in NY city with a producing oil well at one end and a money tree at the other, and I`m willing to sell it...the bridge NOT the tool box.
redvetracr

Holy crap Howard. I have that same box I bought new in 1972.

Damn, I have the same box. I got it as a present in the late 70's. :cool:

The problem wasn't with what the guy did to his car. It really doesn't matter whether he bought all his parts from CF vendors or from the boneyard. The problem was he posted pics of that thing in a thread titled "Vintage road race pics". His car is NOT a vintage road racer. As far as we know, that car has never seen a race track. Yes, there are a lot of replica cars and clone cars running around. But you won't see them posting pics of their cars in a thread that is supposed to be about VINTAGE/ORIGINAL race cars. He then proceded (with the help of a supporting vendor who no doubt sold him some of the doodads on the car) to hijack the thread and make it all about his car. When people like Yellow73SB called him on this BS, he got all testy and defensive.

I really don't care if the guy installed fender skirts and fuzzy dice (which certainly couldn't hurt the looks at this point). The car just doesn't belong in that thread. BTW....it's AC Cobra. The car isn't remote controlled :lol:

you want to see posers, go to a harley rally,,, 25 years ago it was about the bikes,,,, now its a freckn fashion show,,, My Last Daytona was in 93" saw the RUB's starting to appear,,,,(sic) now I enjoy rat bikes,,, and stickn evo's in old 4spd FL frames,,,that screws people up.. they have no clue what they are looking at......

That was one, among several, of the reasons I gave it up & sold my Harley a couple years ago. After over 30 years of riding them, it just wasn't the same. If I went on a "run" I ended up being embarassed to be seen with this modern crowd. It is embarrassing to me to even see these guys on the street today. Foot-dragging, "WestCoastChopper", do-ragged yuppy wanna-be's. Electric start computer ignition fuel injected middle aged pot bellied ponytailed tattooed clueless HD(copyright) fashion wearing punks screaming "Yeah! Right on, bro!" like tweenage girls when they hear 'Born to be Wild' & 'Freebird'. Acting like a bunch of hormonaly enraged 14 year olds whenever they see a pair of tits. Trailer their ****** bikes to a motorcycle rally. Sleep in hotels. No ****** clue to save their lives about how to fix a flat, rebuild a clutch, or even siphon gas. The bike, the clothes, the whole "lifestyle" is just a currently trendy fashion. Wouldn't know a UL from a Duo-Glide from an XLCH. "Lifestyle" my ass, you pathetic posers. Yeah I know I don't have to associate with them, & there are still a lot of hardcore genuine bikers out there. I had other reasons to put it aside besides that. But that was one of the reasons I gave up the motorcycle, & the "Harley Scene" in particular.

I'm perfectly happy with my old Chevy now, it suits me fine.

I still ride, but under the radar and alone like Dep, you said it like it is,,, we had to work hard to make the rallies with the e, el, WL's FL,, U, UL,,, we where greasey looking for a reason,,,,lol,,,mainly the repairs on the side of the roads,,,,,

Panheads never break down.:harhar:
They just run forever. Kick start only. I let one of those yuppie HD riders TRY and kick start mine. Great for a laugh.:D

I got a unfair visual advantage over you guys, living just ~90 miles north of DAYtona so I see all the bikes coming and going....damn few are iron butt riders.......I see more bikes on open trailers behind a freeking TOYOTA than anything else....a Harley on a trailer behind a JAP mobile....

Kiss my ever lovin' ass....this country gone to hell....

:censored::censored::eek:

My first Harley was a kickstart. A used 1973 Superglide. I had to kick it a zillion times to get it running with the factory Bendix carb. When I switched over to a 40MM Mikuni carb, I just pushed the little lever on the carb down and kicked ONCE. Instant start. I'll take a Jap Mikuni carb over any American carb on a Harley. Wait....didn't Harley eventually switch to a Jap carb before going with FI???

My problem is not the car, but the man behind the car. He took 500 of us and collectively started shooting fish in a barrel. Still never explained why.

I can understand him defending his car. Any one of us would do that. But he took the indefensible position that posting in that thread at CF was the correct thing to do. I tried to explian to him that his car didn't fit the description that the original poster asked for. But he seems to be blinded by how wonderful he thinks the car is. Just vaguely looking like a vintage Corvette racer doesn't mean it IS one. And that's what the original poster asked for. Pics of VINTAGE Corvette road racers. I was looking forward to seeing some pre-Stingray pics, but I didn't see any. :(

sumpthing must have triggered it...... I do not remember him being a troublemaker......:confused:

Anyways..... this whole cross website BS has to stop, we've had quiet a few visiting from other websites, some like it here and stay, some don't like it and leave and some just come over here and make an ass out of themselves.... whatever they choose it's up to them. :drink:
BTW, the above is a GENERAL statement, not specific for just this one thread and its participants.

If he can come up with one picture of that car on a track in traffic he's alright by me. Just one damn picture.

And you've been shot at before. Friendly fire. And you're still standing.

This reply from him just now....

Sadly I was never a photo type, so I don't pictures of him and me or Richard Petty and me or the Ramchargers and me or God and me.... Even now with a brand new pocket digital camera and a cell phone/camera I never seem to take any damn pictures. Very sorry

Funny, over the years this topic has not hardly ever come up....

and I have NO pix of my '60 vette either, or any of my Pontiacs either....

IF any existed, my sis must have them....

:amazed::twitch:

I have pics of just about every car I've ever owned...even beaters. Some are at the track and others are just in front of the house. Just about every buddy I had back then had either his girl or another buddy taking Polaroids of their cars. I even have pics of my Vette sitting at Pro Team Corvette before I took delivery and the pics on this forum are of different stages of me taking it apart. I just can't picture not having photographic records of my stuff. It's really cool to sit down with old buddies and exchange pics. And my wife loved them when I showed them to her after we got married. We still take a lot of pics of the house and at Christmas time. Only I don't much like getting in the pics any more.

I'll tell you one thing....if I was gonna post all those "cheesecake" pics of that yellow Vette and list all the doodads installed on it, I'd make damn sure I had at least ONE pic of it at the track. Otherwise, it's just a street Vette with a lot of decals, and not a racer. Hell, you can claim to own anything, but without pictures of it, it's just :bs:

:lol::lol:
Paint it flat black Kev :waxer:

I think that's going to be my solution also....or go really crazy since it IS Florida....flat white....

:devil::shocking:

Hey DEP post up some of those old pic's, i would like to see them :drink:

They are real pics, not digital. I'll have to take a picture of them with my digital camera. Not sure how good they'll look :)

Scan them, then you can post them the same way as digitals.

I would, if I had a scanner :wink:

They not that high dollar anymore, wish LCD tv would come down that cheep, but 50 bux get a great scanner anymore....get a flat bed one, that way it's better for photos...wife has both, she's wired....

:lol::trumpet::harhar::sos:

Okay Mr. Moneybags. YOU buy one and ship it to me. I am in the middle of house remodelling and $50 buys a lot of paint. And my moneytree died two summers ago. :(

What you redoing?? that's what I used to do for a living....kitchens, baths, you name it....anything inside....some years ago here, I put on a 300' addition and it only cost me 8000 bux.....cheep as ****....

Yeh, I hear you, seem that too boot these LCD tv's are basically unsupported and just considered junk when it fails....so to junk something that is a 1500 dollar item is not on my list of dooables....

waiting for a 48+" LCD for 500 bux, that won't kill me.....I stick with my old glare prone CRT, picks up every light source in the room....

waiting on another 'caine' forming in the south over some islands....must be a bitch living there, every damn time you get your **** together, it's gets scattered again....:stirpot:
