Thought I would post some progress pics. I have done a lot in the last couple of years and the car is pretty much done except for the constant maintenance. You know how it goes, you get everything "done" then another gremlin sneaks in to make your eye twitch. This time it is a simple dashboard turn signal lamp.
The car is finally painted, a black metallic color. The body shop lost the rear window trim. I think it was intentional as some of the clips were broken and made the job impossible but at least give me the trim back. It cost me $400 to source used trim. I had the rear glass removed and I installed the trim clips, then the glass was reinstalled. A pita job but well worth it to get the trim properly installed. I blew another engine - DON'T run synthetic oil in these old style engines, stick with dino oil with a zinc additive. I dented the wallet again and opted for a BluePrint 383 - no regrets there. This motor runs great and delivers. For some reason my computer eats my pictures, I can't find the pics of the rebuilt control arms or Borgeson steering box installation. I scored some Astro tops on marketplace, they fit nice and look decent too. I ditched the Bilstein shocks, tried some KYB's and immediately ditched them too (way too soft) and finally dented the wallet again and installed QA1 single adjustable shocks on all 4 corners. Finally, I sent the rear to Bair's Corvettes for a rebuild, they did a nice job.
