Just pulled the engine and getting the replacement ready. I have a holley 4160 with duel feed and AN and braided from the pump to the carb. Do you see a problem with mounting a fuel filter in the back by the tank splicing the filter in the rubber lines from the tank to the hard line on the frame. It would eliminate one more connection in the engine compartment and the possibility of leaking around a heat source. Thank you, and Merry Christmas, Jack

A filter for a carb should be at least 40 micron and better down to 10 micron (FI) and should always be on the output side of the pump. Can easily cause starvation and cavitation if on the suction side.
A suction strainer is usually anywhere from 100 to 200 micron and placed anywhere on the suction side of the pump just to prevent larger debris from damaging the pump (eg.tank sock).

Some nice small inline filters with 37° flare are available, some even take the original qjet long filter.
Similar ones have a washable mesh screen
A little over 1"in dia and less than 5" long.
