this is me storing the fender out of the way while I do a few maintenance things with other cars....

for those counting. 4 things need to do before I get back to this
- Get Jeep running again (done)
- replace PS pump on FJ40 (waiting for parts but should arrive today)
- replace turbo and tune 86 K5 diesel (again, waiting for parts but should arrive this week).

this does mean that tonight, I'll be working on this but it's temporary

nice, complete fender

now broken

interesting in all of this while fitting.. I think GM tolerances were +/- 1/4" I could literally weld this over the top of the current fender... which should make this very interesting trying to make it fit correctly

a couple zips to hold it in place, now comes the work

It always looks so much easier when someone else is doing it. Thanks again for the inspiration!

more nibbles on the elephant

I'm planning on using tig to put this back on, so perfect fit is good enough
eventually, It'll all be bare metal

starting to fit better

I need to figure out what to do about the inner fender... some of me thinks I should put wider wheel wells in while I'm 'at' it.... and before you ask, the inner fender from the other 1/4 isn't a lot better....but will look at that closer tomorrow.

more fitting, huge problem.... the fender, above the wheelwell, bows out so I need to figure out how to clamp it in place to get the gentle curve

Lots of nice work there. Can't wait to see the final result.
me too.... I've owned this thing for nearly 10 years...

an issue to deal with.... I need to shrink the metal above the patch

however first step is to make the fender fit... which, coincidentally means getting rid of rust

a bit more trimming and it'll be just right
