I want to replace my Edelbrock air cleaner on my 77. It sits on a 1406 Edelbrock (webber) carb on an Edelbrock Performer manifold. Perhaps a drop down style? Your help is (always) greatly appreciated. Jack

Most of these are 14" diameter. If you want to fit a 3" tall filter element you'll need a drop down base and possibly a taller hood..... what hood do you have ? Stock ??

With a stock hood and the performer manifold you should be able to fit a 2" filter element.

Be careful with your throttle linkage, these can hit the bottom of the drop down base and you could end up with a stuck open throttle.... a small dent in the drop base will fix it....

Jack, I looked it up, 1406 Edel is a CARTER carb, nothing to do with webber that I ever knew/saw/recalled.....the old Carter AFB, maybe the spread bore but hard to tell from the pix I saw on the search....AVS maybe??

Jack, keep one thing in mind, I going by the piz/appearance of the carb as shown on sites...and those are known as a CARTER AFB carb, about the best 4bbl carb ever invented, IMO....much more reliable, easier to tune, and will not leak, unless upside down.....methinks if THAT happens a little drip from a carb is not much of a problem...eh??

And if ya do this, mark/index it for reinstalls. Ask me how I know...LOL.
I think Gene has a valid point on your carb.
