Hi . What octane fuel should I use in a stock 82 crossfire?Does the owners manual say 87? Thanks

The manual says to use minimum of 87 octane. However it goes on to say that 85 octane can be used in higher elevations ie. Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Northeast Nevada, Southern Idaho, Western South Dakota and that part of Texas which is directly south of New Mexico. Talk about specific!

Hope this helps

You're talking about feeding in excess of 180 horses here.

I'd say to use at least 47 octane.:D

Seriously though, feed it what you want.

I run some techron through (a bottle of techron, not gas with techron) about once every three months and that helps to keep things clean.

The reason I ask is because I put the regular 87 in it but Iv read that a car with 9:1 heads (that a stock crossfire is)should run at least 89 octane.

Feed it what you want, if you feel more comfortable feeding it 89 then feed it 89.

My Nova has 10.5:1 and I feed it 89.

The 'vette has around 10:1 compression and I feed it 91. The 'vette is faster, but doesn't necessarily need 91, I just feel better feeding it 91.
