It occurs to me this might be a good time to install a radar detector "while I'm at it." I know nothing about them except they supposedly go beep to tell you you're about to get a ticket in a few seconds. But maybe it'll give me a chance to back off and only get 6 pointer instead of another 12 pointer.....

I've done no research yet, but I'd like any input from you guys to help my decision.

My idea is, since I have the dash apart for TKO install related reasons, I'll run a permanent power wire up the A pillar and across toward the mirror with a connector, rather than have a dangling cord to the cigarette lighter. Fab a mount for the unit up high as I can in the cockpit.

No experience here - but a fellow that worked for me had high praise for the ESCORT/GPS system. Does radar and LASER, but looks and acts like a GPS too. Especially useful for those areas that prohibit the use of a radar detector - like on base (where we worked).

Escort used to have a policy of paying for a portion of court costs if you got nabbed speeding - no idea how well that works though.

As a 2-for-one kinda deal might be worth some deeper research.

Cheers - Jim

Escort with GPS is the way to go.

The ticket deal went away with Cincinnati Microwave. The guys that took over Escort are really sharp.

:shocking: thing goes off soon as the cop pulls the trigger, but he already got the reading, you hit the brakes, and cop knows you got a detector....so the GPS is fine, but if it says Escort on it, cop knows what it IS, if it says GARMIN on it like my old GPS, he knows it's nothing but a speedometer, which is what I used for a speedo in my old camper.....messing around with trans gear was outta the question......

:shocking:
