Once again, the Long Beach Grand Prix is upon us.
Free tickets for Friday 4/15 are available today (and probably every day till the race starts) in the Long Beach Press Telegram and from various sponsors.

I've been to the race almost every year since it started, and now, I actually prefer just going on Friday because, first off, it's FREE, and there is only about 20% of the people as on Sat or Sun. The cars are running to qualify. They are running just as fast, but for shorter periods. Not quite as exciting as race day, but still very cool. Quite a few Corvettes in the ALM series last year. All the exibits and pits are open. Actual race day--Sunday--is a total mad house. Too much for me.
Parking is expensive and very congested, so I park for free at a Blue Line Metro train station (I use the station at Willow and Long Beach Blvd) and pay a buck to get off about 1/2 block from the gate.
