Aye, not WELL but it was before the rack and HB....don't remember which tires but had the 17x9.5 '92 vette rims on.....with same springs as now...and KYB shocks....been about ten? years now...

I rather enjoy a HS run with top and windows down.....

I used to race dirt track stuff. Not in a C3, not even in a Corvette actually - in an old 1968 HK Holden. But, I own a C3 now, so does that sorta count. If not, ummmm, I guess I'll just pull my head in :lol:

On a side note, just in case anyone's interested, I'll be bleeding my brakes tomorrow. Mebbe even get the wheels back on

What do you think? Every swinging dick has been on a drag strip. And, I doubt you will ever be on a dragstrip in a C3, but it will make a nice coffin though. You must be saving it for that.

TT, is there a way to move up through the threads to where you last left off, like the "New Posts" then "Todays Posts" lets you do. You know, just go back to where you left off in a long thread like this to the last time you visited. That would be handy.

I have been away for a couple of days and this is a lot of horseshit to wade through in this one just to get to the piont that seems to be coming up very shortly. You know what I mean, the part where turtlevet gets the crap embarrased out of himself and then is too stupid to even realize it. Good entertainment.

I've posted in this thread and never driven on a track......but then again, I never claimed to have.

I've never driven at a dragstrip either....but I am hopefull. I have been asked to take my DD to the strip, but I see no fun in that. And when I do get on the dragstrip with the vette, you can bet your ass that I will have pics, videos and time slips....and they will be plastered on this site.:1st:

To me it's not about who's dick is bigger than who's. It's about stretching my own personal limits when I can and having fun while I'm at it. It doesn't matter whether it's rebuilding a diff, tuning a carb, changing the rear suspension or planning some day to run it at Farmington Drag Strip.:beer:

If someone wants to embarass me they need to prove me wrong in a scientific way. Not merely calling me trailer trash or my car a POS like a certain english major we all know and love. He lacks the technical knowledge to ever prove me wrong and i'm not worried about you either.

I really don't care who is posting what. I argue with ideas and concepts and i don't get intelluctally dishonest just to take a crap on some guy. You are either technically right or wrong. I give my friends as much crap as anyone else if i think they are wrong. I will acknowledge when DB is right.

And i really hate the pile on mentality where a guy says something unpopular then the whole site attacks like a pack of hyenas. Thats a high school mentality where you do or say whatever it takes to be deemed "cool".

I couldn't give a rats ass whether anyone on this site or this whole friggin planet likes me or not.

Mid America Raceway

Back in my younger years (mid to late 70's), when I knew no fear..... We (Boonetrail Corvette Club) would rent out the local Racetrack for our Gateway Glass Reunion". We would schedule a drag race and a autocross during the extended weekend event. Held at Mid America Raceways, the track was a 1200' dragstrip located near Wentzville, Missouri. The facility also featured a 2.89 mile course which passed out of service quite some time before the dragstrip shut down. The road course was highly regarded, with varying elevation changes, a very long straight, and ten corners, 7 right and 3 left turns. There were 11 flag stations, #11 being on the straight after the driveover bridge near the end of the dragstrip. The dragstrip also had its run-off area downhill, so there was a strong need for good brakes.



Although, we did not do wheel to wheel racing, doing a timed hot lap around the track was all I could handle. We handed out trophies based on NCCC class. Can't remember what times I turned, but after a few practice laps, it was respectable for my car at that time and a rookie driver. No trophy though Here are a few photos from back then. I had my modified 70 454 (pre RamJet) at the time but was to busy running our timer to take pictures. Being the club EE, I designed an electronic timer using an old Heathkit electronic stop watch interfaced to an optical beam. :lol:

P.S. After Reminiscing my younger racing experiences, I stumbled across this link. It pretty much sums up alot of my feelings and memories of the old "MAR". It's a shame all good things seem to pass.

In a '91? ZR1 back in '97-99? I went to Atlanta with Doug Johnson on a vette cruise....he drove me shotgun around the track he dropped WAY back on the parade group...then took off like bat outta hell....we did a high bank oval at about 140, he was not fighting the wheel at all.....car just dug in and it went....only scarey thing is not seeing the sky, just pavement once used to it, no sweat....

I suspect in actuality a NASCAR ride would be like glue and easy to do the high banks....alone...

in traffic at ~200 mph....well.... that's why they make the big bux....

And from the looks of things you COMPLETELY missed the point of the criticism of Liverpoodle. Let me quote myself in post #73 of this thread:

It's not about whether any of us ever drove on a road race track. We never claimed to have done so. Quite simply, his posts and pictures didn't belong there.

I don't follow CF that much anymore so i wasn't involved in that thread. To me it's a philosophy that can apply to all of us. I see a lot of people who have their cars in a million pieces or up on blocks that talk a lot of ****.

Maybe we all need to keep ourselves honest. As much as i talk about my track days, i ain't ****. As lowly as i am, there are guys that would get sick to their stomach beating on their cars they way i do. Its all relative.

There's only a few guys that hang around here that are true C3 bad asses and you and i ain't them. Kapish?

I never said I was god's gift to racers. And I don't hold anything against guys that have their cars in a million pieces either. There are many cars I've seen in pieces that I'd rather have in my garage, than some of the completed cars that people seem to drool over. Nobody's criticizing what guys DO to their cars, just what they claim the cars are

Pictures of beat up raced cars at tracks are more beleiveable than some banana sitting in a guys driveway. Do YOU believe the JC Whitney Vette was ever raced? If so, I have some swampland I'd like to show you. :lol:

You'll probably never believe it Kev, but I finally got the damn brakes bled today. I used a Motive pressure bleeder and before bleeding without the engine running, the pedal nearly went to the floor. After bleeding, the pedal's lucky if it moves even an inch. I can see myself with a cracked noggin the first time I drive this and introduce my foot to Mr. Hydroboost.

I got the exhaust hooked back up too and my bloody arms are killing me. I might put the wheels on tomorrow if I get the last bit of tidying up done and the valance re-fitted. I will, however, endeavour to take some pics so that at least it looks like Monster Lady's assisting me to re-fit the wheels :thumbs:

Sounds like you are close to getting it on the road :bounce:
