Well, the new ZR1 has been revealed, and it is a beast. Over 1000 HP and over 800 ft/lbs of torque out of a short stroke, 5.5 liter, DOHC, FPC engine - impressive. With the DCT upgrades (shot peened gears and better solenoids) and a real downforce package, even at over 3800# it should be a track monster. Now, just waiting for - and dreading - pricing.

Edit: Not quite as heavy as I thought. Top Gear reports the coupe weighs 1665KG, or 3670 lbs - dry.

I haven't kept up with C8 pricing but my guess is $200K? At that, probably a bargain.

Talk of another model coming with the electric drive front wheels. Unless I hit the lottery, the best I can hope for is a base c8. :)

I want no part of the Zora if it has the E-Rays front electric drive. It will weigh way too much with little benefit to a road racer. I would be happy with the ZR1 if I can get an allocation and if the dealer doesn't pile on a big ADM - purely a matter of principal!

Pappy - DId you drive that? Was that YOU?!
Measured by GPS- Speedo - or reported?
Gearing, Tire size, Drag, HP limtted? Stock?
I was thinking/drafting my upper limit maybe at 215. Theoretically it would run out of gear and tire/HP.

You'd think there might be more inside - maybe.
But, on the Texas Flying Mile, or the Silver State Run is where it would be very impressive.
A road course circuit may never see that. Just thinking:
Consider the Mulsanne Straight at LeMans. Gain 1/10 sec per lap, (215 vs 200) about 370 laps average = 37 seconds....
Impressive. But, more issues. to win the race.

Cheers - Jim

Jim,

That was a GM official release. It was at red line in 6th gear, so gearing limited. With the ZTK high down force package, they are estimating 207-212 - drag limited.

Gee I though there was a hullabaloo about Global Warming, the seas rising, the whatever is falling
Personally I prefer my old Corvette cars, my 22 year old Dakota now relegated to my snow plow truck.

If I won the lottery - I'd get a 57 T-Bird with 2x4 & AC, a Lincoln Mark II with AC and a 30's F*rd pickup and a real Woody (with Old Air AC) - sorry for cursing.
No way I'd get a 1000 HP anything - I'd rather be able to keep my drivers license.
Now a 458 Spyder might be a possibility

I was wondering what the e-ray would be like. I’d like to see a similar video vs the zr1.

Interesting, new e-ray can be purchased for $100k. Cheaper than Z06. Around here $110k looks like the cheapest Z06 (500 mi radius).

Karsten just bought a new Z06, so I searched for one I could pay cash for. 😀😀

I have a feeling there will be a lot more like this one, especially when tire hit the wear bars.

Yeah, low mileage. Wonder if the warranty is still good. 😊

Nothing a backyard body man can’t fix.

I now have 1700 miles on my Z06. Still have to do the first oil change, have not taken it past 5500 rpm yet, redline is 8600...... this thing is scary fast. I have always owned high HP cars but this one at 670hp is in the "holy crap" category. The ZR1 is about $70K more than the Z06, if you want to track it ok, for street driving beyond stupid IMO..... and even if for some weird reason you think 670hp is not enough, two turbos do not cost $70K..... LOL..... but to your point, yes, there will be many totaled Z06 C8s available.
