My dealer called and had me complete a build specification sheet today. I am near the top of his list, but not sure how many Z06 allocations he will eventually get...and there are constraints that may slow builds of Z07-optioned cars with aero - something I will wait for. I spec'd a 1LZ Z07 (CCBs and Cup 2R tires), exposed CF aero, comp seats, and the PDR - no extra bells and whistles to add weight. I passed on the CF wheels, figuring if/when I track it, I will get Forgelines for dedicated track tires. I am intrigued by the technology of a dual overhead cam, FPC NA motor that will turn 8500 rpm. I suspect the Z06 will be one of the last of the American dinosaur consuming performance cars.

Nice, congrats. Those are pretty amazing.

Watched the video you posted, Those rubber underbody vanes on the Z06 are pretty interesting.

I think I'll have to settle for a plain Jane if/when I buy. But, after spending the morning getting the tractor snow blower back on and clearing the driveway, purchasing a new sports car is a ways off. :)

Wow. Is the ZO7 a limited build?
Yeah, looks like the Z07 build is limited due to supply issues/constraints - things like CCBs, and most of the folks opting for the Z07 package add the carbon fiber aero bits, which are apparently in short supply. Of the dealers that have received 2023 C8 allocations, most have only gotten one or two Z07 allocations.

sweet. I think that we will be back to burning rotted plants within 10 years. They don't have enough lithium on the planet to change 1/3 of the planet's current fleet... they run out of lithium as early as 2030 - and there's nothing in the pipeline that replaces it.

SWEET -- Glad you are moving up the list Pappy. Will you be taking the track time with GM - still that still an option/bonus?
Just going to track the car, or thinking some long distance runs? Silver State? Texas Big Bend? I'm adding those to my program.

Great news! I just sold the Sports Racer, spares, trailer, etc., and 12 hours later -- it is in NC.
Now, I get to go full time on "Project Elvira."

Oh, wait. I've got some deferred/delayed maintenance and TCTOs on the new Tow Rig to complete along with papers/tags:

A 6.0L Chevy Express (320+ HP/360+TQ)- Canadian built Roadtrek 170. Got over 15.5mpg from Cape Cod to Florida.
Over 6000# tow capacity (and tow package) and fits in the driveway too! Finish the 'vette she says. Then I can get a trailer. Sheez.

Cheers - Jim

^^^^ Nice Jim. Glad you are getting back to Elvira. Like the van - I am a fan of the 6.0 L. I will probably only track the C8. Looks like it is a bit of a dog at high-end speeds, based on recent standing 1/2 mile speeds - only 154 mph. The gearing is not great past 5th gear, and the aero, while effective, produces a lot of drag. It should do pretty good on a road course, but I doubt it will be on par with my ACR. I can put a lot bigger tires on the front of the ACR to take advantage of the better downforce numbers, and it is 3-400 lbs. lighter. Like you, I just need to finish my "real" track car and quit messing around with street cars. BTW, there is a great write-up of all the aero changes G-Speed made to Jake Latham's NASA ST2 champion C5, including a new undertray/splitter, full belly pan, new rear diffuser, and side mounted exhaust with explanations of their rationale for each change. It is in autocrossing/road section of the Corvette Forum.

Cheers -Pappy

Jake is a good guy, and well "honed" racer. We had some email discussions back 10+years ago regarding suspensions.
He had put together a pretty nice spreadsheet that he was sharing, when I locate it I'll add to the downloads.
A lot of nice ideas on his GSpeed pages too.
Thanks for the CF link. It reminds me:
There is no end to the amount of $$ you can spend on an "unsafe" addiction.

Cheers - Jim

One thing that bugs me is all the reviewers want to talk about quarter mile, half mile, etc. If top speed was the focus it would not have all the aero. But, still impressive 10 sec 1/4.

Also interesting is that the base car engine is very close to c6z hp.

Not a bad review, he focused mostly on cosmetics. He says, at least three times, that he wants to rev the engine up, but Chevy limits the rpm to 3000 if the car isn't moving. :). He sounds a bit disappointed.

Corvette engineers realized lots of people were going to rev the hell out of it since it sounds so good. So, they built in logic for 3000 rpm max at 0mph. LOL.

If you defeat the logic, the warranty is probably void.

Got the call today. My dealer got one allocation today, and it was for a Z07. They entered my order and it was initially rejected for exposed carbon fiber - on constraint. They re-entered with the aero package in carbon flash paint and it went through. 1LZ Z07 with aero, comp seats, PDR- perfect track car spec. Should be a mid May build.

How long was the wait for your order? Is this the first year for a Z06?
Yep, the first year. I initially approached the dealership about a year ago to put my name on the list. Then, in January when they got their first allocation, they cleaned up their list by contacting the potential buyers and deleting those that were not serious or had made other plans. I ended up second or third, but turned down their first couple of allocations because the Z07 package was on constraint and not available. When they got this allocation on Thursday, they immediately submitted my order and Z07 was approved, but the visible carbon fiber aero package was on constraint. Since the aero package is required for the Z07 option, they resubmitted with another code for the carbon aero, but in carbon flash paint - still carbon fiber, but painted. I would have preferred the exposed carbon fiber, but it doesn't make it any faster. LOL

Guess they've effectively reduced your Carbon Footprint!
Congratulations. Waiting for the video "Walk Around."

Cheers - Jim

I think the carbon flash paint is a byproduct of imperfect exposed carbon fiber appearance. Like the carbon fiber wing on the Viper ACR, they only released exposed carbon fiber versions if the weave appeared to be perfect. They even changed the wing on mine in QC at the factory due to a visual imperfection. They used the wings with minor visual weave imperfections on the cars with stripes on which they painted the wing body color with the stripe added. GM has been having trouble maintaining a quality carbon fiber manufacturer for some time, and supply issues for the exposed carbon fiber pieces have caused them to put those items on constraint several times in the recent past.

Looks like the Carbon Flash Paint is the new "Tuxedo Black."
It really looks sharp. Will be a stunning car.

Cheers - Jim

Car was built Friday 20 May. Should have it in a couple of weeks. Ordered the carbon fiber engine bay X-brace from the dealer. GM says it adds 3-4% to the rigidity of the rear suspension.
