2008 Purchased Grand-Am Road Racing
2012 Purchased Panoz Motor Sports Group, which owns Road Atlanta, The American Le Mans Series, and the lease to Sebring International Raceway in Florida.

"It is now hoped that the two branches of sports car racing can be combined into one single racing organization that would find far more success than each would have individually. The merger will take place after the 2013 season and the 2014 season will be the first season for the new entity."

That had to happen to keep both series going. Don Panoz is probably tired of throwing money at his hobbies.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the rules. The Grand Am cars are pretty low tech and basically spec cars.

I think they need combine the racing into something interesting, like the infield at Daytona used for some SCCA type stuff once in a while....

and eliminate the antiquated carb rules and go with modern computer engine management.....not as a requirement, but as a run what you brung rule....:smash::thumbs:

Gene, where ya been? They DO race the infield track at Daytona. And they don't have carbs anymore. Try to keep up.

I don't follow NASCAR, went to one race about 15 years ago, got shoved inside the final gate from the pit pass area to where all the racers were lined up, in the actual PIT....stood around with my arms folded in front trying to hide the fact I did not have that large ID card on a chain around my neck....

but at any rate, I found it boring....I know sometimes the infield is used at Daytona, but not all the time, and I dunno what/who/why

Try to keep up Gene. Daytona (infield track) has hosted sports car racing every year for 50 years. You would think you may have heard about that by now.

NASCAR switched to FI last year. Does that make NASCAR more entertaining for you? Also, NASCAR is not the subject of this thread.
