this thread was very old, but the page 3 update in the thing, referred to some plumbing errors in ZIP's diagrams...

which as I recall, they hijacked from YOU, complete with errors, and so....

wonder if you have any comments on what I THINK is the rong information as to the TRUTH on that thread....

I have a odd habit of remembering shit like that, just wanted to check my mammory on that one....

Gene"

Since you asked: bear in mind I’ve been a plaintiff only once & never, ever a defendant. I would not jeopardize my wallet by speaking, posting or publishing any untruthful libelous statement that would allow anyone to seek relief via any civil court anywhere.

In order-
The crude colored in drawing was done by Zips “artist” Pat Culley. Zip even copyrighted it also. It’s wrong. David Walker testified under oath at a deposition that he stood behind Pat and told him where & what to “draw”. Pat testified he had never looked under the hood of any Corvette, and David apparently never paid attention if he did peek. That’s what they claim, but that’s just not truth full. Who would have guessed it was FUBAR.

These fellows a Zip had no clue there was a problem with all six vacuum hose diagrams until notified via a legal document in Federal court in New Haven, CT. Clueless. There wasn’t one error or difference but several & they accepted what I provided to them hook, line & sinker. I had known for some time they were just copying repro’s, not even checking GM or a blueprint or even an original.

Debbie Reese a former saleslady at Wittek Mtg. called me on day in the early 1980’s & said: this company named Zip just called & said they wanted to buy everything that I purchased from them. She (of her own volition) would screw up their order with wrong sizes. That was the first concrete tip. Zip is the biggest facade in the industry. They have copied hundreds of repro’s including many never designed by GM or installed on any Corvette. You can often identify a Zip repro by the Z in their part number, so it’s easy to see what to avoid.

I’ve never seen a factory headlamp switch assembled backwards, but know that many home craftsman have easily taken them apart for fixing & that may be a re-assembly reversal. Tip: I purchased one of the Chinese imports headlamp switches from Tommy Keen and it did not have the raised numbers next to the ports.

The 1968 & 1969 AIM diagrams do not have any reversed hoses in the vacuum schematics as far as I can determine. That's a subterfuge for what actually happened & they never made that claim in 1995. They only recently found some AIM with errors. And 15 years later it fits their fib.

Knowing how Zip & others just copy repro’s they often have been duped with inaccurate material, sizes, illustrations & even instructions. Where else can you find a seal kit for a 1969-1972 Harrison Aluminum radiator using a plastic fan shroud? How do you get that shroud to fit that radiator? Or one for a 1969-1972 copper radiator using a metal shroud? Even Bubba could not do that, but apparently Zip did.

This Zip employee Justin Abbot brags in another thread about all the research he or they did on these vacuum hose. I’m guessing it must have been at Hooters playing Pictionary. But he wasn’t even there 15+ years ago when this all transpired. Today he publishes his title as director of Zip research & product development, but that sounds impressive & is cheaper than hiring someone professionally trained in that discipline. I have no personal animus towards any of their employees; they are just putting food on their table & trying to hold on to their jobs. I know several of their former employees including Tim Pope, Tom Christman & even their former Webmaster Michael McWilliamson. For some reason they just don’t stay.

Thieves & con men are overly polite. How far would Bernie Madoff have gotten is he wasn’t unctuously gracious? Don’t be fooled by the smiling deceit. They literally run away from their repros when they don’t fit & a claim someone else “made it”. They recently did it on the CF when their customers 1967 3x2 pump to carb fuel line would not fit over the water pump. If they weren’t Platinum supporting $ Payers, they would not be protected by these cyber lounge lizards like peter99’s.

wonder if you have any comments on what I THINK is the rong information as to the TRUTH on that thread....
Funny how those old threads just keep hanging around. Sure wish Corvette 101 would fix their mistake.
Gene , you never did say what you thought was the "rong" information and what was the truth, care to share ?

hehe....believe it or not on more than one occasion but to remember minor stuff like that, not much of any way....I really DO have a life off the 'net'.....seriously, really....:clobbered::nuts:

I do remember a thread there where Jim the basher...Turtlevette tried helping with the truth about those fan speed controllers.....
that infamous battle with that guy building them for aftermarket use...with any fan setup...not just Spals....can't rememeber his handle much less name, but from the NW regions...Washington State??

my argument was simple, and he tried snowballing, and so his snow melted....

:rolleyes::club:

edit, BASKIN, that's the name.....

I ran across that handle some time ago...but know nothing of it....

As to the vacuum schematics...seems I remember something of a thread about Geoff having to blast Zip about their information, that it was copied from HIM...without anyone intelligent enough looking to see that they were deliberately drawn RONG.....some such very humorous thing, I remember laughing my ass off over it....:harhar::mobeer:
