    Protecting a machined flywheel surface

Picked up a nice, previously resurfaced 168 tooth GM flywheel at an estate sale today. It already has a few spots of light surface rust, and I intend to clean the surface with brake cleaner to make sure that any contaminants are washed away before storing it. However, I'm not sure what to use...

new bearings, new brake pads and uneven braking.

Swollen rubber hose. Happens sometimes, even with pretty new hoses.

Did you make sure there are no obstructions in the hard lines?

    1980 C3 master cylinder on a 63?

That MC will only be appropriate if you're switching to the '65(?) and later disc brake system.

    Brake Booster Check/ Upgrade?

If your engine isn't making much vacuum, get a Hydroboost.

    Kit cars/bodies I wish existed

Top of the list: an Aston Martin DB5 body. I've run across an article where some chap in England was making one, but it was just a one-off. It'd be fun to build one up with something crazy like a BMW V10 and fully-independent suspension.

Thanks for taking time to outline the pros and cons!

    Full floating front brakes

Besides the fact that floating calipers are much newer technology, is there any significant performance upgrade from this modification? I would assume that those Wilwood calipers are significantly lighter than the stock parts, but overall, the C2/C3 disc brake system seems pretty good to me.

Couple brake issues with the '69.

It sounds like the booster isn't allowing full pedal travel with the engine off. Have you tried bleeding the system with the vacuum lines disconnected? It also sounds like you either have a missing/defective check valve, something plumbed wrong in the vacuum system, or a defective brake...

Late C3 and C4 differential fill plug size/threads

I was thinking 1/2 NPT was the right size, thanks for the confirmation. NPT is tapered, make sure you don't cut too deep with the tap.

Old treadmills: the buffalo of exercise equipment

There's not much on these things that can't be re-used or recycled. Nice steel frames, good hardware (usually grade 5)...and best of all, most have DC motors with PWM speed controllers that are great for converting tools with AC motors to much more useful devices with easy speed control. This...

Two thumbs up for Cornwell Tools

Earlier this year, I found a nice, older Cornwell 1/2" drive socket set and a bunch of end wrenches while looking for a rolling tool cabinet. The seller was the original owner, who bought everything new while working as a professional mechanic in 1960. The price was more than fair, so I didn't...

    Hydraboost install & review

The one I used looked exactly like the original PS pump, except that I had to use a serpentine pulley and it has the extra return inlet. Direct bolt-on. Damned if I can remember what it came from, though. I think I found the application at CF when I was originally rebuilding my suspension and...
