Who decided on the tire sizing formula?

Probably the same moron that decided the USA should convert to the metric system. All he did was f***up something that had been working fine for 100 years. :hunter:

    Engine stalls

The IAC valve has some passages at the end of the pintle (cone shaped pin at the end). Check that those passages are clean, some tend to get bits of carbon and other goo that plugs up the system.

    Engine stalls

The TPS is not a drive type device- it is the position sensor for the ECM. It gets a 5v reference from the ECM, and in turn sends a portion of that 5v back to the ECM to tell it how far the gas pedal is pushed. Map sensor looks like this: http://www.maperformance.com/gm-3-bar-map-sensor.htm

    Engine stalls

Your second picture above- the square connector is the IAC- idle air control and the flat 3 wire connector is the TPS. Make sure the internal passages around the IAC are clear and the valve on the end of it moves freely with the commands from the ECM.

    How to adjust TV cable

None at all. A shift kit will change the timing and feel of the shifts. It will make the shifts happen a little later (faster road speed), and much more positive. Positive is a good thing- a soft mushy shift might make for a nice ride, but just like any clutch, they don't like the slipping and...

    How to adjust TV cable

The factory setup for a 700-R4 was that it would be out of 1st gear between 12 and 15 MPH. Low speed, yep. But low gear in a 700 is 3.08- add the torque convertor on that and low works out to about 6.12. Now add tire size and the rear axle on that and it needs out of low pretty quick to keep the...

    How to adjust TV cable

It snaps over a T headed pin. Hold the throttle linkage and push the black cable end forward. It'll pop off the pin. You don't need to disconnect it to adjust the cable.

    How to adjust TV cable

When you push the tab in the cable will jump forward- pull it back with the tab pushed down then give it WOT on the pedal (not running!). It will self adjust to it's happy spot. Then you can fine tune it +/- 2 clicks either way. Make sure you get WOT on the pedal- visually verify it. Pull the...

    Vette chip.....

I'm looking at doing the EFI Live trick on my diesel pickup. 5 different tunes from stock (yuk) to a full on mileage tune to a light towing mode to a heavy tow to race only.

    Traction Control

40 years ago it was near impossible to find tires (short of slicks) that wouldn't go up in smoke way before a BB started making real power. I'd think that what you don't want is for the tires to stick and then all of a sudden let go when you get really deep in the pedal. Probably how those...

    L-88 pressure plate weight?

Mine is setting on the bench right now. If I can steal the wife's bathroom scale I'll get you a weight for it. If you just want yours "tuned-up" Casper Brake is downtown about 17th and Cherry. They used to rebuild, I'm guessing they still do.

    700R4 pressure readings?

Dean-- check your PM's- I saw that before I saw this thread.. It seems to depend on what the original code on the trans is, but here is an idea- P,N, OD, Manual 3rd @ 1000 RPM== Minimum TV-- 70-80 Max TV 125-180 Reverse @1000 RPM Minimum TV 100-150, Max TV 170-270 Manual 2nd, Manual...

    Muncie 4 speed

Changing the input is not a real big deal- other than the trans has to come completely apart to swap it. Autogear has all the parts. They also have some upgrade stuff that looks pretty good too. If you decide to go with the Muncie, give me a call, we could easily do it in a day.

    Muncie 4 speed

All done- drilled and tapped the case at that lower boss just like Kid Vette's picture. The drill cost more than the tap. 1/2 NPT takes a 45/64 drill bit. Been a really long time since I did a manual trans. Kind of fun using a BFH to drive out the bearings and shafts. 3 pound brass hammer and...

    Muncie 4 speed

I agree the 5 or 6 speed with OD would be good. Maybe in a year or two. Autogear has an OD gearset for the old Muncie. Just not in the budget right now. As good as the inside of the trans looks- even the rings in the synchros are sharp- it can run for a while- either until it breaks or the...
