Anyone weigh an aluminum body shock & compare that to a steel body shock?
Ex. Bilsteins compared to QA1s. This maybe a good way to shed some lbs.

QA1 coilover shocks ? The biggest weight difference is probably the spring, same for the rear. I just got my fiberglass spring and it's amazing how much less it weighs.
The stock style shocks are not very heavy - I wonder if the aluminum body of the f.e. QA1 shock is made from thicker (wall thickness) material and if there is any weight advantage. Interesting question.... did anybody weigh these shocks ??
A C3 Bilstein front shock weighs 2lbs, 3.6 oz
A front C3 Delco Performer gas shock weighs 2lbs, 9.8oz.

2.2lbs with steel rod ends....
These are the Bilstein's we use. Quality product and revalvable. Qa 1 parts are made in China and in my opinion are less than desirable from a performance aspect. At one time they where a quality product when Hal Lees was building them one by one in his shop in Florida. They just dont have the quality control they once had...
