For some strange reason they been making RED tail light lenses for decades now, and even very old, they never seem to totally screw up....

but these damn new cars with stylized new front/clear lights are all fogged up in a few years....

the one I am concerned with is my wife's '99 Escort.....so I would suppose Ford used brand X plastic, vs whoever else using other shit....

so what is the BEST plastic restoration crap for a FORD headlight cover???

:surrender::)

wetsand and buff the same as you would paint.

Here is a photo of the brake light assembly I did on the Trans am. The one on the right is after wetsand and polish

2K clear coat! Wetsand the bad plastic off with 320. Finish with 600-1000, spray clear coat. They'll look good for as long as the paint job.

I've done a bunch, here's a set of Honda lenses.

Gene, if you decide to do this get a real good mask..I know you’re no green winnie but this stuff (Clear Coat and Hardener) will make you sick and expose to it too long can kill you... :friends:

I agree.... at a minimum you need a dual cartridge mask like the 3M stuff that you can buy at the hardware store. NOT a dust mask like Michael Jackson used to wear..... :lol:

Yeh, I got a decent mask, with valve and two cotton filters, but it's not a Oxygen mask with tank....like I see the .mil uses....

I paint outside anyway, up wind of the paint....

I know this is an old thread but i thought some of the pro painters would have let people know that new hardners are made up of cyanoacrylates or superglue/crazyglue compounds!! Maybe i missed it if someone has. I have had no sence of smell for about 20 years now because i was accidently sniffing superglue fumes building model aircraft and it has not come back!! Dont know what it done to my lungs but i gave up the fags 4 years ago so heres hoping im good to go.;)

Crossed over to girls? :bounce: Haha, jk.

yeah those fags are not good for your lungs.... :amused:

on a serious note: even primer is pretty bad stuff.... when you shoot primer thru a 2.0mm tip it goes on so wet and clean, there's no overspray and you're tempted to not wear a mask... the fumes are still there and it is not healthy....
