TKOII Transmission

Does anybody have any information on the TKOII 5 speed transmission?
Are they suitable for transplanting into our C3's and are they strong enough?

Its probably strong enough. The ford guys like them.

In any case its a ford transmission, so bellhousings and the like are going to be a pain.

Your probably better off with a richmond OD 5speed.

You can get a GM compatible version and they work great. I put one in my '76 a few years ago and it works great. Best tranny I have ever had, shifts great etc.

In a word - NO.
The TKO II is the same as a 3550 or a TKO 500/600 but with stronger internals than the 3550. It is conservatively rated at 475 lb ft.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and decided to buy the TKO II. After much agonizing and research I feel that it has a useable gear ratio and is plenty strong for my application.
Thanks to all who responded to the various threads I posted in my quest to find the right transmission.
