Steering rack interchangeability?

I've got a steering rack from a '96 sitting on the shelf. I bought a complete '96 front suspension at a swap meet several years ago and used the rotors and calipers on the '84, and the A-arms on the '69, so all that's left is the rack. I'm curious if the '96 rack would work for a spare for the '84, or if there are any width differences between early and late C4 racks that would cause bumpsteer issues if this rack was put in the '84.

Mike, Rock Auto shows 2 different r&p for 1984-87 and 1988-96. Not sure what the difference is. Didn't the track width change in 88? Maybe the only difference in the tie rod ends?
