Rotor rivit replacment

Hi folks , new to your world ,

I pulled the rear wheels off my 81 vett today, (so i could bleed the brakes ), and noticed there were NO rivits OR bolts holding the rotor hat to the rotor . I really need some input on this situation. Where can i get replacment bolts , what kind & size do i need and can they be installed while on the car ?

I am mechanically inclined but know nothing about corvetts .

my '72 has had NO rivets for the 16 years I have owned it....they are not needed, long as your runout issues don't have/create problems with the calipers.....surely the other threads above have covered that issue....

Gene is correct, if the rotor runout and bearing endplay is under 003 you should be ok but I still tap and bolt them on every T/A I rebuild for guys. I know once they're dialed in they're not going to change and I didn't have to machine the spindle flange or rotor to dial them in.

I tapped the holes just like Gary does, think it's 3/8" thread size and the existing holes are already the correct size for the threads, unless of course somebody went wild drillng the old rivets out.

i got my countersunk screws from McMaster because I bought the countersink and tap from them anyways so it was one order, if you have the tools already you can probably find the screws locally.
 
No reason to bolt or rivet the rotor to the spindle. The rotor is sandwiched between the spindle and wheel. Unless you are worried that your wheel is going to fall off, there really is no danger of the rotor moving, in which case you have bigger concerns.
I understand that some may like the idea of having them bolted on, but I've been running with my rotors un-riveted for years with no issues.
