Basically I have a 79 that will never be correct. Looking to install black leather seats (from a salvage type source) or new aftermarket seats.
Anyone have experience with:
using any newer other oem seats, such as accura or honda?
or experience with "summit racing bucket type" aftermarket seats.

Looking specifically for sizing and ease of install info, not looking to recover or dye anything. Presently I have no seats.

Hi Andy,

I just finished installing C4 seats in my '79 today, see my post in the interior section.
Here are your options:
1. Purchase some correct seats for your '79 and install them. Karsten (MYBAD79) has some for sale I believe. This will be the path of least resistance as they will bolt right in. You can always dye them to match with Duplicolor leather and vinyl dye, it is a spray can and works good.
2. Purchase some newer 'Vette seats like I and other C3 owners have done.
3. I have a pair of leather seats for sale from a Pontiac Fiero that will work for you.
4. Find some exotic seat like a Recaro sport and install that.

Aftermarket seats are tough for C3's. We only have about 20" or 21" width at the seat base to work with, most seats are too wide.

If money is no problem then buy used C4,5,6 seats and new leather covers... Katzkin for example is very good quality but probably $800 for the two covers.... Leatherseats.com sells leather imitation for less, I bought a two tone set for my Z28 a while back and I was very happy with quality and fit.

Careful: you sweat a lot on leatherette/vinyl....

C4,5 or C6 seats only fit low enough if you eliminate the seat tracks, that's fine as you are the only one driving the car.

Or just take my seats.....shipping is going to be a pain and expensive but I would consider any reasonable offer for my stock '79 seats... I really need to get rid of some "stuff".... you don't have any seats ? I'll include the seat tracks if you decide to buy my seats. I have seen these sell for stupid money on Ebay... should be possible to ship two seats UPS for less than $150....

$185.00 & shipping - it's less than what I paid for them. You want me to dye 'em black? There is a 2" separation in a seam that I repaired, I can send pics if you like.
