I'd rather be in Bonaire
Is the only hose to fit the 80-82 lower, with a wire inside, a GM part? Just tried a flex hose, no luck. Advanced nor Orielly has one.

Afraid of collapse on the suction side.

Thanks in advance

I used to get hoses from NAPA with the wire but haven't bought one lately.

Thanks! I did check with NAPA and they no longer have hose with wire. Only ones with wire I can find are from the Vette Parts dealers at $60 a pop, and three days ship. And headed out with the Hot Rod power Tour Friday.

Not sure If I am being lead down a senseless path? Was told by two people I have been lucky so far using a non-wire hose. I would assume hoses are a bit better these days than 30 years ago? But, the Advance hose I have had is very soft to squeeze together. :skeptic:

or find a piece of wire (about) the same size and wrap it around a large broom handle....it won`t push in but it will twist in, just keep it a few inches from both ends....

Good deal gang, funny thing, I went ahead and bought a new house, took some SS TIG wire and made my own. What a hoot to come in and read the suggestions. Getting a bit nervous, 3000 mile round trip coming up on new engine, trying to knock out all the known issues. Thanks to all!

I bought the lower hose with wire from DocRebuild (as far as I remember)... but I never had an issue with the old hose without spring.... homemade spring will work just fine - have fun on that trip
