Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
Just curious if the wiper motor changed during the C3 production run, and in particular, did the HEI distributor size (diameter) cause any wiper motor changes in the later C3 cars.

Thanks,
Mike

The later pumps (78+) don't have the piston pump for the windshield washer. I'm not sure if interval was std. I don't think it was.

I appreciate the info!
I haven't used the washer pump feature in years, but if the later pumps give me a touch more room in that area, and weigh a touch less, that'd be great. Do you know if they're interchangeble?

Yes. We installed the blank cover where the pump was on Scottys 72. The pumps are all the same heavy MF.

Correct, I even have a modified later shark motor in my '72 with still operating wiper door, the pump is gone and a little import aftermarket thing does that job...complete with delay wipers...

IF you find a decent junkyard you can find a later wiper motor assy with the same mounts and shaft....maybe even have delay built in....common off many other cars of the 80's....that will save you 500 lbs right there....

;-)))

I was looking at some wiper motors on a well known auction site, and noticed some C4 units. They also have 3 point mounting legs. Anybody ever looked at these side by side with a C3 unit?

thanks.

No, but through the years I have noticed a proclivity of GM to use one assy through the lineup over the years, for that sort of shit....so it would not surprise me it's the same as many/all//most? other GM cars of the era....I did notice the same sort of 3 point mount on a chance junkyard sighting, and it surely LOOKED the same as ours....ME, I"d take a tape and measure, or maybe a chunk of cardboard/pattern??

I"m a retarred cheep bastard....

The 75 uses hei and the wiper motor has no pump on the motor, Plenty of room for the metal shielding too.
I think the c4 motor is too long, but smaller dia.

Is this on the 69 that you race ? Just curious , what are your requirements for wipers ?

Yeah, this is for the '69. It's a street car, but I tend to put more trackday miles on it than street miles. I'm just looking for any way to pull some more weight out of this car and yet retain the looks and functionality of a daily driver.

I always expect to get my butt kicked by wide-tired C6's on the tracks, but if I can make them scratch their head wondering why they had to work so hard to do it, then that just makes a more enjoyable time out on the track.

Just my personal quirk, I guess.
