I have a question about the L-88 hood. In front of the bulge there is a possibility of water collecting when driving or sitting in the rain. How do you guys drain it, by drilling holes in that area ?
A factory BB hood has the one hole in the bottom of each side at the crease. The hole is about 4 or 5 inches behind the radiator so the water will miss the engine.
DV8, I never realized you had an after market hood. Here's a hood I did similar to yours. The sides are higher and reach all the way back to the cowell. The guy put a pair of "Attwood" Marine engine room vents in it. Actually came out nice. Just for the record he told me the car placed 35th out of 35,000 vettes at the Bowling Green museum show last year. not bad top 1% for a barn paint job, LOL
I had the long style L88 hood on my old red 69 vette and it had only 1 hole drilled in the center point of the V shape and it drained perfectly. Now that I have Chris's old car with a stock L88 hood (very similar to my aftermarket long L88 hood) he has two holes drilled on the outer edges of the V shape. It still leaves water in the center of the v-shape. I think the center of the v-shape is the lowest point when the hood is mounted and closed because it is the further forward also so you only need 1 hole at the center of the V shape and not 2 holes on the outer edge. My long style L88 never had any water sitting around with just a single hole drilled in the center
