BUT, just what is SO expensive over a set of Hookers??

jeez, a 150 buck set of headers, and then a couple side pipe bends with a baffle or two, and set of heat screens....

seems to me for 4-500 bux at MOST RETAIL , let alone catalog prices would more than suffice....

comments??

they pushing 2 GRAND for them things with 'baffles'....bullshit....

:banghead::huh:

gene

used hookers side pipes $400 cermic coat $275 ( very good deal ) sts inserts $335. MISC PARTS FOR HANGERS $20. = $1030 And that is on the low side.
labor well it depends.........

This is 2009 and prices have changed.

stainless knockoffs were on ebay not too long ago for $700.... that's stainless headers and sidepipes.... compare to roughly $1700 if you buy the original..... can it be done for $500 ?? probably yes, just not here....

TWO things that stop me from getting Ricky at the Muffler Shop next door from bending me a set....would need 4 thrush mufflers, they are about 4" diameter, then need some heat shields, they are a issue, then there is the SOUND likely to be way too loud....I"m still contemplating that deal....I need to think to stop by and ASK Ricky how much...I BET if I buy the 4 thrush baffle plate mufflers, he could hook it all up for maybe 200 bux off the present headers...but then I"m stuck with the heat shield problem...

STILL think it would be neat to pull the individual tubes out the side slots...like the show cars of old, but can't figger how to EVER work on them without destruction...too much PIA...:surrender:

I priced stainless tubing before I bought my Hookers, it is not worth the effort..... fuggetaboutit... the material is more than the knockoffs....go to google and look for a 4" diameter 90 degrees 304 stainless ellbow....

NOT even thinking stainless...just to bend up a set and try it with two Thrush muffs in series per side....better off with just hook up temporarily under the car first....anyone ever try that type setup ?? two thrush in series per side??

:bonkers:

Just get the Patriot sidepipes for $200.... really not all that bad for what you pay.... easy to connect from the stock manifold.... any muffler shop can do that...

Just wait and get a set off of ebay used. my set was 400 bucks.

I fabricated quite a few stainless exhaust systems, anything from 2,5 to 4" , full systems, a set of headers, hooker sidepipe muffler inserts...you name it. For the price of quality stainless tubing, elbows, filler wire and shielding gas, all the hours spent, not even talking about the 4000$ TIG machine... even 2000$ is a good deal.

The patriot sidepipes look like SHIT!!!! Compare please:

Or do you mean those Patriot knockoffs where only 1 of the primaries is functional?? Nice! a 1-5/8 exhaust (or is it larger?)

Nope, the ones you show in the last pic.... 2.25" tube from the stock manifold or shorty block hugger headers to the chrome sidepipe... they hang low and the sidepipe is a little bit too short but all in all for $200 it's not all that bad....

Just purchased a set of the Stainless Hooker knock offs from Ebay this winter. ($750) Coupled with a set of STS baffles ($335) I love the sound. Went to the first Cruise Night last friday night, and got alot of complements on how the car sounded. I think the fit of the copies are not as good as the Hookers, but for the $1000 savings, worth the extra effort involved.:waxer: Just my opinion.
