Have you ever tried to do business with a Dot Head? You know who I mean, I am not being PC here, those people from India with the red dots on their foreheads?
They do not respect a written estimate. After the job is done they want to haggle over the price or pick the job apart to get a discount.
They do not respect an appointment. The day you show up for work they have an excuse as to why you must come back at another time, thus negating your work day.
They want a discount on EVERYTHING. I had some dottie call me about my van I have for sale, the asking price is $10,500, the dot tells me he wants a van for 7K. I tell him that he does not want my van then. He asks my best price, I tell him 9K CASH, he still wants me to lower the price without even seeing the van. I told him not to call back unless he has 9K.
These bastards try my patience to the point that I will not return their calls, call me PREJUDICED - it is a waste of my time and energy.

This is AMERICA, not some fly blown bazaar. Go the hell BACK TO INDIA you cheap bastards!

I done business with about every type of person on the planet, they were embassy folks, in the DC region....many lived outta the compound.....

and the total worst was a Paki, and I got along good with Dot Indians....

so go figger....

ONE group you will never do business with is a islamic cult embassy...they NEVER pay their bills....they fuck hell outta ever business in DC, and were well known for it.....our STATE Dept is supposed to do something about that shit but that's not happening...never does...

the only ones with a GOOD rep for paying on time....the Brits....

I had a friend a while back that put a very fine point on it. It's not a "prejudice", that implies that you pre judge. It's a "postijudice", meaning you had no idea until after you were exposed.
I have that postijudice with messicans.
 
you must enjoy the abuse :hissyfit: otherwise why would you do work for them? as to the van why didn`t you just hang up on Dottie?

I did. He called back a few times - I told him to go and buy another truck.

I have come to see the red dot on the forehead as a great big STOP sign.

Bargaining is a cultural thing, in some country buying something at the tag price is insulting... for the seller, it's kinda part of the game.
Not saying it's not annoying, but at least it's not really intentional.
 
Denpo's got a point there, two actually. It's cultural and they bring their culture here.

Even being a east coaster all my life except for ONE year in FW. TX. I have visited Messican border towns maybe 4x and when informed beforehand the first time about the dickering over prices, I rather enjoyed it....thought it was funny....have a Mexican silver Peso in a old Texas style belt buckle to this day....40 years later....

In some countries (Africa) it is actually an insult to the seller to pay asking price as in you're a dumb@ss your asking price is too low.
You shout you yell, you stamp your foot..you laugh..you walk away and come back again..23 times and it's yours for half the price.

In some countries (NW Europe) it is considered extremely rude to haggle.
Without saying as much you're telling the seller they're a crook for asking too much.

I haggled on all cars that I bought.......walked away many times. Anything that I buy used...I haggle. I haggled on a Deck that I had built.

However I never haggled with a repair type service...ie: AC/Heat repair. Those guys are pretty much fixed price....you don't like it go somewhere else.

I always haggled over price in Mexico city.

I guess it is in my nature to haggle over price.
 
Ex Soviet block immigrants are to be avoided too. Biggest bunch of organized thieves in my part of the country.

Have something for sale, use caller id and email, any name that remotely looks soviet, DELETE. No caller id -Caller has a soviet accent, item is sold or spoken for.
