Do I need that little capacitor that's inline with the tach?

I finally busted the leads off that little capacitor that mounts on the intake manifold and is in series with the tach wire going to the dist. So do I need to replace it? Or can I just bypass it? What does it do anyhow? And does anyone know the value?

no, but you can get a bouncy tach needle, it's a signal "filter"
