charge wire.

from alt back to starter. big red wire. it runs into the fire wall,back of fuse block. does this wire power any part of the fuse block? or is it just making a connection in there and then back to starter?
This is a 78 vette.
I want to replace the charge wire with a new wire( old one is a little brittle).
I thought the other other hot wire of the starter also on a fusible link supplied the power to the fuse block.
Any help??

It splices to the ign switch, part of the light switch, fuse block for the stop switch, horn relay, hazards

Starter red powers light switch for main lights.
