Hello there everybody. This is some progress on my CFI to Carb conversion. Ok so far I have replaced the engine with a new 290HP GM crate engine. I installed some of the wiring for the lock up kit from Bowtie overdrive the one that comes with the brake switch.

I still have to remove all of the wiring from the CFI and figure out what goes where as far as Vacuum lines and stuff. I will update as I go thanks.

I have dealt with a carb converted '82 in the dim past, I remember we had mucho troubles with the p/owner cutting the entire computer harness at the fire wall, and in to doing cut about 1/2 dzn instrument or tranny wires....I forget exactly....honestly, I think to put a TPI or similar on there, and retain your injection....harder to do, but if you can't do electronics very well....maybe your course is simpler.....

cut the harness tape/covers carefully with a U knife, and then you can free up the various wire ends, and pull from one end outta there cleanly, maybe one item at a time, or three at a time, like from TPS...etc....

probably take a afternoon....

If you see the black plastic cover on the passenger side firewall, remove the 2 screws and unplug all of the connectors. They only control the CFI injection sensors. This way you can always put them back on later if needed. There should be 4 connectors.

I can't believe that I almost missed this one. This is exactly what I am currently doing with my 82. So far I haven't hacked up any of the harness. Most of it I have been able to peel back and tie back out of the way, and pretty much completely out of sight. I had the same question about unplugging the ECM or not. (Any suggestions) I have a few pics posted here. http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn249/Ricks82/
