Aside from jacking up tire prices, I want to know the actual stats on the failure rates from say tires that are 2-4-6 years old, and then from tires that are 6+ years old....

I bet the difference is statistically almost unmeasurable....in other words, i'ts a non issue....

I disagree, I once bought a car that was well kept with very low milage. Scrubbed the tires off in 8,000 miles and they had plenty of miles left on them. Hoses also went bad.
