OK - when I run with the A/C on my engine temps climb a bit and I can hear the dreaded ping of detonation or as it used to be called - valve knock. Can the A/C system be improved upon to minimize this situation or are there other issues?

1)Too lean

2)To far advanced

3)Too low an octane.

Try retarding the advance 2*. I bet it stops.

Bird got it for engine, but nice to know the temps, stat, rad size, engine size/etc....at speed or at idle in traffic?? elect fan or stock mechanical??

:clobbered:

Premium pump gas (91 octane or better)

Timing was retarded 4* already

383 stroker, Alum Rad. stock fan, clutch works cause I can hear it roar when it gets hot...all seals in place...

dunno if it's an 185* or a 195* thermostat.

Happens at speed or at idle, temps start to creep up just over 200* with the A/C on. Without the A/C it is not an issue.

lots of things go on when an engine gets hot......including fuel expanding.....i wonder if you have a running lean situation on hand.....so at real hot temps when the engine gets really hot the fuel is in essence thinning out and creating a lean mixture situation. try and see if the same thing happens with the AC on when it is cooler outside or before the engine gets really hot....by the way do you have that stock lower air damn installed underneath the radiator? you would be surprised what a difference that makes in cooling down the engine bay.

Naw, I have a big ass aftermarket chin spoiler. I tried the chin spoiler both ways, it did not seem to make a difference.

we just moved from Southern Monmouth county to VA where are you located? that lower spoiler made a huge difference on my car.
