Opinions - I've owned these for many years and haven't decided what to do with them. They are nearly perfect with fresh 3 angle valve job one piece SS valves custom made hardened spring seats etc. Are they worth something more then just the cool factor? Should I run um, store um or sell um? thum_11784ae9d8aa60d56.jpgthum_11784ae9d8bae71eb.jpgthum_11784ae9d8d05715c.jpgthum_11784ae9d8dfc4ee2.jpg

Every aftermarket aluminum cylinder head will outflow these all day long. One of the magazines did a head to head test and the heads today are head and shoulders above these. (notice all the head related puns in there!?!?)

I think they are cool and would run them if I owned them. I have tried to buy some sets but the rocker stud bosses are usually cracked or the chamber is beat to death with a broken valve. Tricky part is you need a piston that will work with the closed chambers and not hit. Not too many closed chamber pistons being made anymore either.

They are probably worth a lot if they are '67 - '68 dates but the later they get the less collector value they have. I bet you could get $1000 for them, maybe more.

They are 1967 date. I realized there not state of the art by any means. I have an open chamber set as well those are 1969 date. We ran the OC on a drag car for many seasons with big roller cams and stud girdles with out issues. They were surprisingly good. As there are few 67 L-88's missing original heads I kinda figured the price about that.

I like the old schools stuff myself so I've been toying with the idea of bolting them on my motor in the car and having some fun. A good winter project.

I like the old stuff too so I keep looking for a set. There was a set of open chambers at Carlise for $1,200 and they appeared to never have been assembled/installed. They had the nasty GM one angle valve job still!

If you decide to sell let me know.

Thanks
Mark

i used a set of those heads on a 427 with trw lf2300 pistons (at least i think that was the number was a long time ago). They were fun, never had much on the bottom end but when the tach hit 3500 all hell broke loose and it would pull hard to 7000 rpm. I really miss that combination - the heads i had were abused badly before i got them and the valve seats would fall out -- messed up the motor a couple times because of that - then i put on some Dart 320's ... was alot smoother on the bottom end - but just never had that kick in the ass at 3500 anymore.
