4 cyl, stick shift....engine sets code 04xx something to do with evap emissions control CIRCUIT, we spent some 2 hours changing that stupid valve that scanner said was involved....35 bux....reset code almost immediately after clearing it....

anyone any clues?? other than to reprogram the computer to do thing right for a change???

Check ALL the hoses for the EVAP from front to back, I've been chasing the same code on my Sunfire. Could also be set by a bad/loose gas cap

04xx? Whitch one is it? That can help you find the problem. Best thing you can do is to smoke the EVAP system to find the leak. You will need a smoke machine and a scan tool to seal the system though. If you aren't able to get your hands on thouse tools you are best off to either leave the light on or pay someone to fix it.

A (used) handheld programmer like the Predator will be cheaper than paying someone to find the issue and fix it.... turn off all the emission crap and be done with it....:tth:
