General Information
Original matching numbers motor and transmission.1980 frame.
Vehicle was purchased new in march 1980 by the original owner.Stolen in 1985 with 28K miles on it.Engine,transmission and passenger compartment were recovered in a chop shop bust late 1991,and returned to the original owner.
Vehicle was piece by piece reconstructed over the next few years and repainted.Due to real life hassles ,and lack of interest on his sons part,it was parked in a barn from around 1996 to 2009.Was taken out to be completely restored,until they realized the price tag involved.In Nov. 2010 it was sold and exported to Germany where we found it posted on the internet.After a bit of wheel'n and deal'n we bought it in Feb 2011 and gave it a new home.Did the needed repairs to get through German tech. inspection and qualified it for historical tags.
Since then I've overhauled the low mileage 350 and TH350 tranny.Both were scroungy and leaky on the outside,and like new on the inside.Both heads were cracked,but being 462624's it was expected.Replaced them with brand new, plain jane ,cast iron 1.94's.With the exception of a CompCams XE262H,and 2 1/2"exhaust, it's bone stock (for now),and runs like a top.With the 3.08's,I can run 120-130 mph down the Autobahn , no problem .It'll go faster,but I don't have the balls for it.It kinda turns into a "hand full" at those speeds.Not comfortable at all.But it did run constant mid 15's last summer at our "1 day a year "drag strip.Also has an old school B&M shift kit in it.
Suspension,and brakes front and rear are re-done.Wheel bearings front and rear.And by the end of next month the drive train will also be completed....I hope.
