    Internal Body Aerodynamics

We're on similar wavelengths here. Several years ago I pulled the stock rocker panels off and made 2" lower/wider replacements with Lexan sheet, and painted them semi-gloss black. I like the looks better, and so far no one has seemed to notice the change. I had an aluminum bellypan on the car...

THAT'S NICE! Guess it also qualifies as a side skirt too. Did you have the belly pan on at that point or when you took it off kept the rocker? Is that the rattle can Lexan? Lexan is what Jim Hall used on the 2J (sucker-car) side skirts. Cheers - Jim

That's the rattle can Lexan. You can beat on or bend this stuff pretty roughly, "and it keeps on ticking". After being impressed with this stuff I bought some more of this for my front pan material (Makrolon brand this time). Hall's 2J car was the first time I ever heard of Lexan. When I was a...

...SCCA is going to have to come to grips with these adaptive features as the GCR still states: also germane: They do not address Side Skirts in the Technical Glossary, but add details in various classes that they are permitted if OEM, or Aftermarket as long as ride height minimums are...

    The Climate Today

You could not make this up. One of the 4 murders last week in Bridgeport happened in a bar. It’s close to my former Zinc, Cad, Chrome, Aluminum anodizer – Reliable Plating & Polishing. The murder victim ( #18 if your counting) was shot in side a former strip club/bar that re-opened as a social...

...the downforce which resulted in loss of control in critical cornering situations. I kind-of have my diffuser set up that way. Moveable side skirts have, in the past, been outlawed for the same reasons - abrupt changes in downforce when the system fails (skirt sticks) which alters the car's...

I don't like the look of the crossmember hanging down either. At the very least GM could have angled it up so that it was flush with the bottom of the frame side rails. Do you have any pictures of what you did?

...now!} Not a lot to see on side exit, but the tubes go 4-into-2, then the 2 are exiting. Will swing 90 degree aft and run down under the side skirts - (think fancy no-step running boards!). Drivers side is "not quite" a mirror of the pax; But you can see the work we had to do here too...

    Internal Body Aerodynamics

Yeah, I got as far as uploading it to VM, but I'm doing something wrong trying to get it onto this post. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Edit: Oh, there it is. I thinned out the crossmember arms to allow me to run the bellypan further back at the same height as the pinion bracket crossmember.

...except for suspension components. The small "splitter/tray" behind the wheel/tire provides some downforce. Note the vortex generating side skirts. Cool huh? So how does this fit a Corvette? A C3 with a duct/airbox radiator venting through the hood, inner fenders as on a C5+, and a...

Project Elvira – Intro and Update

Ouch! I'd really like to be at 2800#s. [Wouldn't we all?] But, I've watched your struggle to get the weight down - while keeping a stock-looking C3. Because this will still be street legal (it is in FL, so a little easier) I'll still do lights etc. Even though the interior is gutted - the...

My new 97 Firebird project I got for a 1,000.00

AHHHHH ... didn't think about that, just remember the RS's back when I bought my 97 camaro new having that kind of air dam and side skirts. Did you tune your LT1 or have it done?

    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

I made a set of side skirts for mine out of a plyable rubber that will bend up enough to let you get a low profile jack under it.

    Who's injection unit?

This is on the J2 Charreral raced in the 1970 Can am series. Who's injection unit? Look at the pivot on the side skirt attached to the suspension. I've seen video's of them starting the fans, you can see the car drop about a inch. My Dad came home with a Chaparral 2 model kit 1/32 in the...

    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

There is a plot in a book called something like "Road Vehicle Aerodynamics" that shows a front air dam reduces drag. Lower is better if I remember correctly. Basically stops flow going underneath. Adding side skirts is shown to aid also. The SAE still sells it last time I checked.
