For all looking for a correct pitman arm that will work with this conversion, I have contacted Speedway motors and verified that their pitman arm PN 91032555 is correct for this conversion. The picture below is a 74 Chevelle arn with the correct center to center, drop, spline and tapered stud hole. The Speedway arm is described as:

•5.5" center of eye to center of eye
•Splines are 1.190" outside diameter
•Bottom of tapered hole is 0.675"
•Top of tapered hole is .580"
•1.063" drop

The 1.063" drop spec is what concerned me but I sent these pictures to one of the techs at Speedway and got the following response:

Larry
It looks like the amount of drop is actually going to be .693" which look sto be very close to what you are showing in your picture from the surface it is sitting on the the bottom side of the arm where the tierod bolts on.

I wanted to order this shaft today, but it was not available in the Speedway database; later in the evening I had more luck, as it then came up.
I did notice somewhat different spec's for this item which I copy here below:

•Degree of Taper: 7 degree
•Center to Center: 5.50
•Drop: 0.75
•Spline Count: 32 and 4 master
•Hole Diameter: 1.104
•Top of Taper: 0.644
•Bottom of Taper: 0.560
•Notes: Fits Sweet and GM 800 boxes. These 1973-1977 Intermediate GM pitman arms are used. We clean and inspect each one.

The spline size is quite somewhat different, and there is no mention, that this fits the Delphi #600 steering gears, so I am not to sure now.
Any comments?
thanks

Cor

I just received the borgeson conversion kit via Summit Racing. Does anyone know if I too need to replace my pitman arm or does the borgeson kit use existing arm?
