If not, they were sure using all of the spring.

yep. I'm just sayin' it was taken from a position that beehive is better and the video proved a pre determined position.

All I am saying is consider the source. There are educated people on both sides of the issue which will make the point one way or another.

Not saying they are bad at all. I remember reading there were some problems with some made by Comp or Crane for example.

As I always say, how much of a difference will it make given the overall combination.

Their advantage is that they have a progressive rate to help better control the valve. Light on the low end, heavy at the steep end. Exactly what is needed.

It has to do with harmonics. The beehive dampen itself and the straight spring needs a dampener to cancel the harmonics. Real simple.:quote:

How do you know that the traditional spring was even close to being appropriate for the application?
I bet you could make the beehive spring look pretty bad in that test if that was what you were trying to do.

Mr. Vizard has totally swallowed the beehive story.

There are 3 reasons to NOT get a beehive spring
1.) no damper spring to save your motor in case a spring breaks
2.) Cost
3.) limited availability of spring pressures for the really aggressive roller cams

if you are running hydraulic anything they are probably the way to go.

Reasons to get them
1.) Lower spring pressures to control higher RPMs
2.) OE usage is bringing costs down and reliability up. Kind of like OE introduction of roller cams
3.) Lighter valvetrain weight
4.) More lift from same installation heights

Hyd Cams have been running forever just fine without them for years.
