Bubba got ahold of my power steering pump. He welded the pulley onto the pump shaft. I plan on replacing the pump and pulley but can't get an accurate measurement of the bore (shaft) size of the pump. There is weld material all over the end of the shaft. Can anyone tell me if the shaft is 5/8" or 3/4". I need to order an aluminum pulley and need to know the bore size for ordering. Thanks.

If I guessed at 5/8, it's probably 3/4. Why not drop by your local autoparts store and ask for a GM pump? They have one in stock, drop it on the counter and measure it.

(I still bet it's 5/8)

i emailed jim shea (steering guru) and he says 3/4". i thought 5/8" as well. so i ordered 3/4 bore pulley today.

The pump driveshaft diameter is held to a very close tolerance in order to have an acceptable press fit to the pulley:

0.7500/0.7494 inch diameter
