Rookie's First Restoration Attempt...

... Its refreshing to see that a young person can write...
Whose is you talk about?

 not you ......

It's just that there are too many who cannot speak like a normal person, typing with no punctuation , typing some ghetto slang etc ..... Cannot blame anybody for not knowing English or how to spell but there are just too many keyboard warriors who's first language is English but they think it's cool to sound like a moron ....

I finished plugging the ac hole this weekend.

I finished fitting the right door trim, and started to fit the door panels.

I fit the cowl screens with custom made brackets. Each is held in place with two screws.

I modified the hood support to use two bolts instead of one. I eliminated the tab that usually rests underneath the drip rail...I cut it off for a cleaner look.

I wrote my final exam yesterday. I am officially finished my 3rd year at SAIT. One more year and I will have my red seal as a journeyman autobody technician.

It's a 383.

Congratulations! Are you taking appointments yet? My Vette will be due for paint when you graduate. :D

looking good...... just curious: did you get the 1" adapters from Denis? These should work really good on your rer axle but the tuds are metic (M12) so might have to press in 1/2" studs or find metric nuts that fit your wheels....

I ended up not using them because they have 1/2" studs, which will not work on my setup.

I also ended up ordering new rims and rubber for the vette. It wasn't cheap, but they are going to look deadly.

The shelby is almost ready for the owner to pick up...time to start working on the vette again.

New wheels are officially on order. 18X12's in the rear with 335/30/18's, and 18X9's in the front with 235/40/18s. They are Billet Specialties Dagger G's. They definitely were not cheap, but it really needed to be done. I'm happy.

Byron and I spent a lot of time measuring the car for custom backspacing of the rims, which will fit the car flush with the wheel well lips. I'm officially done fitting all the parts to the car.

Once I receive the new rims and test fit them on the car, the body is coming off of the frame. We will rebuild the motor, and install it on the frame with the transmission. The exhaust will also get installed.

The underbody will get detailed, as well as the engine bay and firewall. The engine bay and firewall will be painted off the chassis, and the wheel wells will also get a final detailing. The #4 access covers will also be permanently installed.

The body will be reinstalled on the frame, and the party is over...no more glass work, no more fitting parts, no more filler work. Its done. Its finally done. The prepping will finally begin, and this car will finally get the paint it deserves around christmas. I have a lot of guys that are going to be helping me prep the car, so it will go quick.

Its been one hell of a trip, and I'm glad its almost over.

Just for giggles, how much do you think that 5 years of parts, blood, sweat and tears is worth?!?

Well, to me it is priceless. That's why I don't think I could ever really sell it.

However, right now it is insured for quite a bit using a professional appraiser. I'm not going to post how much it's insured for right now, but it is a number higher than anyone could imagine.

I wasted a lot of money redoing things on this car, but that's the cost of experience I guess.
