exhaust upgrade

hi? i have a 82 corvette and i want to upgrade my exhaust system. currently i have bought me two dynomax super turbo mufflers. i want to remove the oem headers and put on new headers and also get rid of my cat converter.
what headers should i go with, long tube or shorty headers? ceramic or stainless or painted?

all inputs and advice are welcome.

Long tubes, if you can get stainless do it. Who makes a stainless header though, apart from the ones motorwhat'shisname was pushing as made in US but mysteriously priced as Chinese
