answer YES...as of April the old ebay motors page is going away...the new page doesn`t have a place for words to exclude.....I don`t want to search for Corvette crap and be forced to look at clothing, jewelery, cup holders and the rest of the garbage people list. It`s bad enough they force sellers to accept pay pal which protects NO ONE and costs 3% (the reason I`m not selling anything there anymore). They no longer allow paper payments like checks or money orders...Ok the rant is almost over now but has anyone figured a way around all this ebay crap? I have read far too many horror stories from ebay sellers who have been scammed by bad buyers using the one sided protection pay pal affords them....................anyone?
 
I had not heard that.
I have heard the bay makes more coin from PayPal than the site, so it figures about that point.
If I can't send a M/O, then I'm out. Fuggit.
 
And look at all the people that bitch about Microsoft. ebay does what they want to as far as forcing a POS like paypal down everyone's throat and no /gov wants anything to do with it.
I used paypal exactly 2 times long ago, and I still get notices from them about it.
 
The "New Ebay Motors" sucks the big one. They are a year away from the total elimination of individuals trying to actually sell items at auction. It is dominated (already) with retailers selling catalog items.
 
UMM....OK, wife's '92 Miata I got her....RockAuto.com 124 bux something for a FW hub/bearing thingy...trashed.....locally, backorder a week MINIMUM from 4 chains....same shit.....EBAY....56 bux, coming from California....

convertible top......anythere else, they want the cubic bux and it's a ROBINS top...zipper rear window, for what REASON I can't imagine...but 550 to 850 bux....Yeh, makes a whole lot of NO sense for a car worth 2000 bux at best.....

EBAY California again....180 bux on the Miata, and one for the Vette too 160 bux.....not 250 whatever from some vette supplier...but 160 bux.....PP again....

wife wanted a new bed ensamble...Ca. King...72" wide 84" long....hard to find in stores....online is forgetaboutit.....same shit....400 bux....

EBAY....160 bux....comforter, 4 fufu pillows, 2 king size overstuffed pillows, and cases for all the pillows......

true enough this is most likely China import crap...gotta be, especially from California/Long Beach or SF.....but about 1.5 years later that bed set still outclasses the rest of the household by a fair amount....something you see in Hollywood homes, not here...Linda can spot good deals on stuffs like that, I dunno jack diddly....show me a car part and I can ID it good....

Chuckie next door had a old Toy of some sort, leftover lug nutz he tossing....asked if I wanted them I was busy working glass on the vette....he puts them in the garage....they fit the Miata just perfectly, and the same size as on the vette/escort/dodge van/and now the Miata....so ALL my cars now take the same size impact socket....the red one....

I color code my sockets for easy sort and remember....spray the whole damn set a color, leave the metric in chrome....tell at a glance who goes where without looking...GOD I"m lazy....:zzz::bounce:
 
I got hosed by Pay Pal and will NEVER use them again. My dad retired and I was selling off some tools of his. IN this case, it was a HILTI gun that took 22 loads which was a $500 gun. It was used and came in the plastic Hilti Case. Sold it for $200

The guy sent me back a box or rocks and canceled the charge on Pay Pal. As a result they took the money back. The guy was from Long Beach CA. I have a friend out there who is 6'6 about 275. I sent him the address, he said it was a good neighborhood and went to knock on the door. He left a note on the guys door "heard you did some business with a guy in jersey, you need to make it right".

I got an emial from this clown about 1/2 hour later telling me my friend was there and that he's calling the police. I said "go ahead"

Turns out one of the guys on another forum was retired Chief I believe in Long Beach. So he made a call too and the guy got knock on the door from the local.

While this was going on I contacted other people who he ripped off on EBAY. Same kinda thing with PayPal support. They were ripped off for a lot more money than me. The total was closing in on $2000.

I complained to EBAY as did the other people ripped off.

Then finally, a friend on mine on the local force called him after doing a background check and read off all his license plate numbers, personal information, and who lived with him. Told him he needs to make it right. Told him that over $1000 total rip offs was a FELONY and that he will be sent to jail.

SO...after all that I put up another advertisement in the TOOLS section, title HILTI TOOLS. I told the story as I did here, in more detail, and offered to SELL the name of the guy who was doing it for $1. People were asking questions like "Is it Joe Asshole". I'd respond, PUBLICLY that I couldn't answer or we wouldn't need the auction, however, I can say that the name did contain all those letters in that order. Stuff like that.

So the CROOK emailed me and asked me to take down the ad on ebay blah blah blah. I told him only after he made EVERYONE whole and removed his bad feedback for me.

He did on the condition I remove MY bad feedback. He paid EVERYONE back after the money cleared I took the ad off of Ebay and he was summarily removed from ebay.

Fact of the matter is that Pay Pal gives you NO RECOURSE when someone disputes on of the charges, no matter how ridiculous it is.
 
WOW, and some time ago with all the discussion about my top speed runs here, and guys saying they doubted it.....I got a GPS system off ebay, but found out it supposedly would not handle over 80 in speeds....so I cancelled the deal, the guy sent the unit by mistake....I returned it UNopened....USPS....return to sender...case closed....no issues....

BUT just a couple months ago, I got a Garmin from West Marine...200w 120 bux, wandered in for some hood pins, and spent 150 bux....can't win....anyway,....I priced that Garmin nuvi 200w all over the joint, and even ebay they wanting 150+.....

so it's does pay to shop around for sure....ebay not always the cheepest source.....

but some daze you just gotta go there....

I've been going back to the old ebay motors every time they forced the new one and now they are even giving a 15% off certificate. The new ebay motors has no related searches and also ebay has recently started filtering email addresses out of messages so you can't continue the correspondence outside ebay. It's getting more sucky by the minute.

This does confirm one thing my friends and I noticed. IF, you are on the west coast, everything you order comes from the east coast. HOWEVER, if your on the east coast, everything you order comes from the west. WTF is that all about??:bomb:

Yep. I just bought an icemaker, barbecue parts, and some Vette parts. All from the east coast.:bonkers:
 
ON the east coast it's NYC, Miami then Jacksonville for shipping....someone said Jax out did Baltimore some years ago....dunno if we held the lead or not...

go figger....maybe it's the way the freighters are routed with given cargo...
