Phantom of the Opera
Working on Jed's Clamper....putting FORD brakes/drums-shoes-backing plate on the GM axle.....got it all figgerd out now, but a question about what to expect on performance....
the brakes from GM OEM were 13x2.5" or 32.5 inches of swept area....
the brakes on the Ford are 12x3" or 36" of swept area....so about 12% more area on the Ford brakes....
so the wheel cylinders are IDENTICAL...chebby uses a 3/16 brake line as does the single wheel version of the Ford, but for the dually Ford they used a 1/4 inch line...dunno why, GM didn't..it's 3/16 all the time....
the wheel cylinders are the same size inner diameter and length between the chebby and proposed Ford,
so the braking effort should remain the same, I would think....
IS THERE A ERROR IN MY THINKING???
on this topic only, please....:ghost::harhar::friends::flash:
