I finished installing my edlebrock RPM performer .
Then I tried to start the car and it fired right up and then it died.
Well then I tried to restart nothing but after cranking for a min. gas shot out of the carb about 8 feet into the air.
Now the engine will not start at all lots of gas so I checked the floats gas just dribbled out the sight plugs seemed alright to me.
Choke opened I ran this carb last year and the year before.
So where is all this gas coming from.

Can you describe your fuel system? To shoot fuel 8 feet up would need an electric fuel pump with a regulator problem. Straight up out of the vent tubes?? You may some junk on the needle and seat to cause it to flood. To shoot it way up like that sounds like something more devious.

Stock fuel pump
The gas shot out when the engine sneezed.
If there is trash in the needle and seats any way to clear it without dis assembling the carb.

Well I think I found out what is wrong with the 770.
I removed the fuel line and inside the inlets is a black grit its also in the filters behind the inlets.
I replaced the fuel tank and the fuel gauge there was a new fuel sock
I thought the new sock and the carb filters would be enough guess it wasnt.
Time to reinstall the fuel filter back in the fuel line.
