Just replaced the hard drive in my laptop and slowly getting my programs loaded, what is the best free virus software to use these days?

Been awhile since I saw free anti-virus products reviewed but AVG used to get good reviews. I use it on a netbook and I've not had any issues.

+1 for Avast.
For spywares and malwares I recommand Spybot S&D free edition for good measure.

Also, surfing with anything but Internet Explorer is a good idea.
