rear end gear suggestions

I'm looking for a D44, with the current setup, what size gears would you guys recommend? I don't want to run over 2200-2400 on the highway.

Here's the build:

1990 Coupe
427 Pat Musi Small Block, naturally aspirated
Dart SHP 400 Block
Dart 215 Pro1 Plats
3000 stall converter
240/246 cam on 112
.602/602 lift using 1.6 RRs
42LB Bosch injectors pushing 50 PSI Fuel pressure using a high volume pump
Long tubes with 3 inch exhaust
OEM Ignition
700R4
3.07 rear

I have a 700-R, and with 3.08 turn low 1900 or so. My truck has 3.73, and cruises 75 at 2100 or so. Next time, the Vette gets 3.73. Seems to go well with OD.(Best of both worlds).

I worked out a screaming deal on a D44. I can do it installed for under $800. Batwing, C Beam, Driveshaft, etc.... everything.

Taking it, it's a 3.08.

I have 3.08's now. I also have alot less HP. BUT, it still cruises at the bottom of the power band. (About 1850RPM) TOO low IMHO.

Didn't have a 700R as an option.

Don't matter, it's the final drive ratio, and the lockup converter....therefore it's a stickshift....locked up solid....

same diff....long as you got the ratios correct....

Gene, thanks for this calculator. I found the "split" ratio's to be very informative. :thumbs: I have found a transmission with gearing that will work very well and this calculator just confirmed my choice.
