Z06, ZR1, Grand "Sporte" they are done. I just don't see this as a viable brand. The brand may be bought by someone when the prop holding up GM is gone and they just flop, further. Then they will never be as cheap, as they are now - relatively speaking compared to other "sports cars". (Miata is not a sports car, unless you wear panties :D)

Honestly, I am surprised the vette is still in the showrooms at all, what with GM being a .gov run company these daze....

Who'da thunk a 2009 Corvette would be "rarer" than my 1963 or my 67 or 68 or 69 or 75. WTFun happened. Olds, Pontiac, Hummer, Saturn, Saab. I would hope that GM would survive (and pay back that 80 billion along with Chrysler). But I don't think it will happen. I won't be getting a Volt. How in Gods name do you figure your expense when it's plugged in?

Lots more ARM coming due in 2010, along with commercial re mortgages, Pratt & Whitney is closing a jet engine repair facility in Hartford, CT -1200 jobs. The local newspaper, and the largest Connecticut Post has less than 40 jobs listed. Many contractors are selling their backhoes, concrete forms etc. No new construction. No manufacturing. Soon we all will be wearing blue aprons at WallyMart. Welcome to WallyMart. How much do they pay? Bennies?

I'm glad I did not overspend, take out the real estate "equity" with a loan. The only dumb azz thing I ever did was buy old Vettes.

1) In November, 2008 with GM bankruptcy imminent, I bought a new 2008 in fear Corvettes were going to disappear. I did basically the same in 1970, when I thought smog rules would kill high performance cars, I bought a 69 3X2 BB. Good Decision. So, for now I bought a fully optioned C6 Coupe with the base engine. I would have targeted the Z06, but my wife balked at the manual transmission. Also, a Z06 purchase would have financially interfered with my build up of my 70 BB. The $20,000 extra for the Z06 will buy a lot of stuff for the 70.

2) 20 years from now, a 2009 Corvette might not be "rarer" than your C2 and C3's. 20 years from now, a C6 might be the equivalent of a paper weight. With their sophisticated electronics, and their aging failure rates, maintaining all the computer technology and electronic gizmos might well be either cost prohibitive or simply impossible. If GM is forced to have a socialistic perspective they might well abandon support of the Corvettes in the years from now.

3) "The only dumb azz thing I ever did was buy old Vettes." :) Yeah...sure....and picking up singing dogs from the pound. (I've heard you like to adopt pound dogs so I just assumed you crooner dog had a similar background) Consider buying a C6. You will love it.

20 years from now when we're pushing up daisies, the "rodders" will consider an xbox interface with a joystick as an upgrade to a C6 in place of the steering wheel and gas pedal:lol:
 
No C6 for me. For a modern vehicle I like my Dodge quadcab pickup, we could easily get 4 big dogs in it. :D
True story: I bought 94, 96 and 99 coupes because there was no place for our 2 dogs in a convertible. And they went to work everyday :D
my 79 was so loved by our old girl PeeDee, she loved to stand up on the aftermarket T-cushion & stick her head out the T-tops with her floppy ears blowing backwards :D

Corvettes & Dogs the best :D

Next I want a red 55 with a red interior
an almond beige 62 with an red interior
a silver 66 425 conv with a red interior
a black L89 convertible with a red interior and SIDE PIPES !
and a winning lottery ticket.

Thank God I've still got a roof over my head. The government wants to run my small business into the ground along with every ones else's. If your not a fat wall st cat, you get no help.

Love the cars, anything BUT a red interior though....

you are right about the business stuff, and in your type business, passing along your state taxes maybe not so easy with competition from folks in other lower overhead states.....

doing local service business is much easier to do that, obviously....
